Where were you when you heard the news?
I was on elite and on the ICQ with someone who I used to love very much. He had a crazy sense of humor and I thought for sure he was shitting me, till he told me to turn on the TV.
I was stunned.... I still am to be honest.
I was fortunate in that I didn't lose anyone personally, though my exbrotherinlaw and his son SHOULD have perished. My exbroinlaw was uncharacteristically late for a meeting that morning (he worked in one of the buildings for Dean Wittier). As he was coming up from the subway they were all forced back down because of all the soot and ash and the heat and my nephew was working in one of the buildings in the complex. He sat there at the window and watched as people jumped to their death just before the buildings came down.
I was still legally married to my ex at the time and it was near all day before anyone in the family heard of the whereabouts of my ex broinlaw or his son. My ex and I had one of two lucid and civil conversations on that day.... too bad it was only a momentary mental lapse on his part.
I can't begin to imagine the grief of all the families of the victims.
