My friend and his wife have a 7 month old girl and the wife is breast feeding (by the way it is NOT me)

so because she is BF she has not had her period yet. but of course she CAN get pregnant now still.

so last night they had sex and he came in her etc...etc... now he's thinking of getting her the "morning after" pill = RU486.

that pill brings on your period so I told him
(a) dont do it
(b) go to the friggin doctor.

The EXACT thing happened to me and I ended up with 2 kids back to back

anyway...any thoughts on RU486 while breast feeding????

yeah, i have a great suggestion... don't ask a bunch of strangers on a chat board about something as medically serious... your friend needs to ask her doc.

just cause they are stupid doesn't mean its right... plus i'd imagine not many people feel comfortable going to their doc asking questions about an illegal substance they took.
but anyway... I'm for the pill. doesn't bother me.

Most docs won't even give the pill if the baby is breasy feeding...why dont ya tell him to get his shit together and be responsible and pull the fu#k out next time or use a condom

yep, I did that too...I told him "use a dome you dumb ass"
I know from first hand experience to not stick it in unless you want another kid.

like I said that's how I got 2 back to back...the second time we had sex after the first child we made another one.

of course now a few years later I think it's great. and I should add at the time when my wife got pregnant for the second time we just smiled and said well nothing like a brother/sister for #1.

we never once said "oh shit what now?" or how about ru486.

that pill has its use but not for new mothers. (my opinion)

See your doctor: there's nothing else to consider besides waiting a few weeks. Was she known to be in her fertile time?

You can't afford to risk polluting the baby's milk or knackering the woman's systems at this time without medical advice just on the vague offchance that she was ovulating.

Obviously, she needs to ask her OB/GYN.

BUT, RU486 is simply high dose birth control pills. You take a few of them for a couple days i na row - therefore getting a HUGE dose of hormones to help disrupt implantation. The pills are a combo progestin and estrogen.

Estrogen should not be taken when breastfeeding, it can cause her milk to dry up. It will NOT cause harm to the breastfeeding baby, but can make her milk disappear. Not a good idea.

Tell her AGAIN to go to the doctor for advice.
