Rotator Cuff Surgery?

How long is the general healing process from rotator cuff surgery? Also, how long before you would realistically be working out hard again?

Well mine keep me down for 2 years...I guess its how bad it was and how good the doctor is...Mine is still not healed or right and it was worse after they went in then before. People kept saying oh you will be moving it and lifting on it in 3 months...Yea right! I looked at that 600.00 weight set up i bought well over 3 years woman kept saying sell the dam thing your not going to ever use it again...LOL fooled her.....I finally use some andro ran out of options and i slowly got my other muscles stronger around it and i lift again just much smarter now and still work around it. I feel your pain! You never listen till its to late...Now i know the differents between pain and strain! Good luck bro its a long hard road.......but you will make it.

nice pit! i keep hearing from half the people that getting the surgery is a bad idea and half saying they are better after it. Im not 100% sure that my Dr. will suggest it, but its likely. I gotta go see the sports injury ortho thursday morning. So maybe ill be finding out something soon...

thanks. did you have an MRI done? surgery is def. a last resort. try seeing if you can maybe just go to physical therapy. i have a ton of RC exercises i do before i lift, especially heavy days on bench.

I havent had a MRI, I go to the ortho in the morning to see what he thinks about it. Prob get xrays and set up a MRI maybe. Its been messed up for like a year and stays irritated, so i kinda doubt it will heal with physical therapy. BUT then again im not a Dr. so who knows. But i appreciate the advice for sure.

Went to the Ortho today and he said I have a spur, tendonitis/burcitis (sp?), and some minor damage. Just enough to keep it messed up all the time. He gave me a cortisone shot, some anti-inflamitories and 4 weeks physical therapy. Then I go back in a month to see how it is. He is the type of Dr. that doesn't do surgery unless it just won't heal. I hope I don't end up having to get cut on. Oh well, off to eat and go do deadlifts lol.
