(Right clicking and saving as)

From the impression I get on this board, people believe the video gets played on the server side if you click directly. This is simply wrong. No matter where you go, including a website, it is first downloaded on your computer ... than viewed. Unless it is something like an oracle server, which is intended to be "played" on the server side ... the above will always be true. With regular windows media player files, this is never the issue.

It does become a problem when people keep clicking on the link though. BTW, you can also re-save the video from within windows media player (or whatever you use) by going to File->Save Media as (otherwise, it is saved in some temporary folder).

(I am posting this on the training board because this is where the training videos as posted, so I would appreciate it if it stayed here)

:)

It doesn't take any more space if you directly click on the video, rather than to right click and save. The problem only comes when people keep clicking on the same video multiple times.

The problem is that when people want to watch the video again, they will click it and cause 2 times the traffic... as opposed to saving it to a computer

Yup, covered that. :)

You can always re-save from within the media player too.

Saves time cause it doesnt hog bandwidth....saves money so you dont have to buy a high quality server....or somethin'.

Most people don't know how/won't do that though.

It's a lot easier to keep clicking on the link. That's why I ask people to right click my videos.
