right calf tightness

mad dipz

New member
well this whole week, I've been experiencing some major tightness in my right calf and the muscle under the calf (not sure what it's called). I stretch alot before squatting or deadlifting and powercleaning, and on the treadmill I stretch awhile plus a 5 minute warm-up and cool-down. It doesn't get so bad when I do the lifts, but when I run, I'll usually do so many miles at around 8-9 mph, take a break, then do some inclined runs at the same speed, kinda like up hill and all that good stuff, and right when I start feeling the tightness on the right side I quit because idk if it's going to cramp up or what, but I'll feel it for the rest of the day and it just burns like a bitch, especially when I'm driving. today it felt a little better during squats. do you think it's due to an imbalance, if cynical or anybody else would know? cuz I'm wondering if it's doing that because perhaps my right leg is working more than the left.

my body is odd too.

My deep tissue massuse thought it was weird that my right gastrocnemius (the upper portion of the calve you see. the under one is the soleus) and my shin muscle had a few knots in it. the left did not.

You may favor one leg over the other doing certain things. Stretch it out even more, and massage it yourself, it's easy to get in and dig with your knuckles into your legs yourself.

idk it felt even worse this week. before doing squats I stretched both legs out good, and even more on my calf. did the squats-- seemed fine. so I figured to get on the treadmill for a quick mile run and hopping in the shower before work (keep in mind I stretched even before this and did a 5 minute warm-up walk). I didn't even make the mile :( got about 3/4 the way there. it seemed to spread down to my heel this time. limped all day yesterday and I took a break from running today and I can still feel it a little. I'm probably gonna have to see a doctor about it.
