These days most of the locking is becase of something person (i.e. you are on their shit list), or just out of pure bordom (99% of the threads that WODIN locks are because of this).

With all due respect Ashamed that is no reason to lock a thread. Other people might have wanted to contribute later and now they can not.

It has struck me lately that this board is getting kinda boring.......there are too many posts that could be interesting being shutdown. Seems like any minor disagreement is a good enough excuse to lock a thread. This is one reason why I was not too bothered when it proved tough to renew my membership.......why help support a site that I spend less and less time on?

This is a privately owned board. The owners have every right to control it as they see fit. I utilize it, as we all do, within the limitations of the owner's judgement.

Another post will appear and the fun will resume, until the mods make their judgement to lock it.

For those who state, "well what is the use, you won't change my opinion", debates are not only for the two or few involved. There are others who are watching any debate and the discourse of ideas influence those who may be sitting on a fence or have an idea but don't really know why. The presentation of ideas has a greater effect on them.

Also, a true thinker should always take the views of the opponent and dissect them for their validity. Some opinions are so blatantly wrong, that this takes nanoseconds, while others may take some time, while some opinions may be truthful, which forces one to reconsider his/her side. No one is omniscient.
