My best friend had a nose job 2 years ago.
He had a BIG nose which had a hump near the upper part. He was a good-looking guy (hope I don't sound gay LOL) except for his grossly big nose. He finally had a nose job after complaining about his nose for years and years.
His face was really swollen for about 4-5 days after surgery. He actually didn't leave his house for a full week afterwards, except to go to the surgeon the day after surgery to have the gauze removed. The nose splint came off a week after surgery and he wore some tape on it for another 2-3 days. After about 10 days most of the nasal swelling had subsided, except in the mornings when he woke up his nose seemed to be a little swollen which subsided after a few hours.
Anyways, the difference in his appearance was remarkable. He went from a good-looking guy who had a BIG nose to a "hot" guy (again, I'm not gay, just describing how chicks refer to him LOL) and now he's constantly hit on.
If you don't like your nose, get a nose job. The difference in appearance and more importantly self-esteem and confidence will be well-worth it.
Be careful, though, when it comes to selecting a surgeon. Rhinoplasty is a tough job- there are a lot of surgeons who suck at it. This is the most important part of the entire procedure. My best friend is anal and ended up researching surgeons for about 2 months. He found a guy who had a reputation for doing revisions- that is, correcting previous bad nose jobs.
I would NOT go with a plastic surgeon who does stuff like liposuction, tummy tucks, etc.... Rhinoplasty is so difficult that you should find a surgeon who only does facial plastic surgery, i.e. a true specialist. My best friend's surgeon had completed a ear-nose-throat residency and then did a fellowship in plastic surgery- he was a specialist in only facial surgery.
