Rheumatism

My doctor is suspecting that I have this. I am a professional athlete but I have been off training for a while with numerous problems and this seems to be the conclusion (but awaiting confirmation in tests).
Is this my athletic career over?
I have been searching the internet to find any information regarding top athletes that have this but have continued and sadly I have found none...
