resting/changing routine/off

when do you change your routine and rest?

Just wanted to know how often one should stick with a routine before changing it and how frequent you should take a 1-2 wk break from lifting all together to prevent platueaing

Try to change up your routine every 4-6 weeks...Your neuromuscular system adapts to the stressors after about 4 weeks. Rest after 3 cycles of changing your routine...so every 12-18 weeks. And don't just "rest," you want to do a sort of active recovery. So be active, just stay away from the weights and "cardio." Go swimming, play basketball, etc...
