Bronzegoddess. I am white and I answered this thread and Ive done asmuch as any citizen is required to do for his country. Im educated. i served my country in the military. I dont break the law or hurt anyone. I vote and pay my taxes. I have adhered to the social contract that I am bound by.
Reparations are not fair because my , as were many others, ancestors were not in this country at the time, either was I at that. Why are we as taxing payers being asked to pay the bill for somethign so long ago. If your great, great grandfather stole one hundred dollars from mine, would I expect you to pay it back. No reasonable person would do such a thing. Now if it was an object in question then the answer would be different.
Honestly, can we say that paying reparations would really make anything better and would people consider it enough. These are people attempting to make a quick buck. if we give reparations at all it should be in a one time tax credit and thats it, over and done but would people let it lay, I doubt it.
All i want as a white american is to not be blamed or forced to feel guilty for something I was not involved in.
I grew up poor, ina black neighborhood at that but still Im precieved as being part of a rich ruling class whos intentions are to oppress and exploit.
that is foolish.
Im starting to think that this issue willnever rest.
