real names

Once in a while i mention to someone that my first name was changed when i was young (i was born with the name Calico but it was changed to Gabrielle when i was 4. Calico is on my birth certificate).
often, when i mention that, people say how wierd that is, but quite a lot of times someone will tell me that they use their middle name or some other name they got when they were young, or they changed their name for work and it stuck.
do any of you use a different first name than you were born with?

Well i have tons of nick names.. pest and Trixxy r the main ones

i'm not talking about nicknames!
people call me 'g' for short, but have you been using a different first name other than the one you were given at birth?

i know a girl who's real name is Pepper.

i dated a girl who's first name was Helen but refused to use it so she went by her middle name of Marie. she was one of 3 girls i dated with the middle name Marie and i've come to the conclusion that all girls with the middle name Marie are nothing but trouble as they've caused me nothing but trouble.

i've known quite a few people with shitty first names that went by their middle name.

DAMN lots of biatches....
no...no use of a givenname......

sounds HOT

Lenny...My family used to call me that. Steinbeck's Lenny BTW....mega fucking insult

My first name is Sulma (long 'u' as in Sue), but everyone but family members called me Annabelle until about 1 year ago. Still had a Mexican accent until about the 3rd grade and I felt like I fit in better with an American sounding name.

Most people call me by my last name or Bigdawg(including my Dad).

Only my Mother or signifcant other call me by my first name.

people seem to think my last name is bastard, for some reason...and that my first name is bloody, or fucken, or dirty, or smart arsed...

people are strange

when you're a stranger?

lol... you're on a roll today.
I like your real name, but it probably sounds pretty when you say it and not as pretty when a stranger says it.
Nobody calls me calico anymore except my grandmother when she messes up.
She told me before i was born my grandparents were home having a dinner party when they got the call that I was born (their first grandchild). they asked the usual questions- my weight, length, and name, then hung up and turned to their friends and said "we have a granddaughter!!!" everyone congratulated them and then said "OH, what did they name her?"
my grandparents, ashamed of their hippy son and flowerchild daughter in law, said "oh....they didn't name her yet."

I have an interesting story.

My Dad being Italian and having his forst boy after 2 girls was so giddy that he
wanted to name me after himself and be FirstName MI LastName Jr..

Before the Birth Certificate can be written out with a name, he is being convinced by my Mom that all his relatives will call me Jr instead of my first name and he won't have none of that crap.. They are still waffling back and forth on the
name when they need to fill out the ORIGINAL Fancy birth certificate with your footprints and Dr's Signatures and all..

So, being born in a Naval Hospital and he being a Chief in the medical field, bitches and yells until they agree to simply put "BABY BOY" on the birth certificate
and that is what is on the original one today.

Of course the records were changed when a nurse told him that he could simply use FN MI LN II instead of Jr and solve the issue so that is what he decided to
do..

I still shock people by showing them my original with BABY BOY on it where the name should be..

Thanks. :) and yes it does sound prettier when pronounced correctly. Non-spanish speakers invariably say it wrong.

I think it's a really funky name. But since it's pretty informal sounding I can see how sometimes it wouldnt seem appropriate. Like if you were an attorney....Ms. Calico Jones representing Mr. Sullivan Your Honor. :lmao:

well, it figures i became an artist, so i could have handled the name. I actually like it now and joke with my mom (who likes the name but regrets giving it to me) that i'm changing it back. that usually last about a minute cause i forget.
I've mentioned it here before- my middle name is jayde so even though i like both first names, i somehow sound like its a made up stripper name.

Whalehead.

I rarely use it. pretty much never. well. really never. My mom used it. Once.

In large Rorqual whales the penis can be 10 ft. long with a diameter of up to 1 ft. The whale penis, at its base, consists of two arms attached to the pelvic bones, the arms fuse into the rope-like organ. The penis in cetaceans can generally be retracted into a penile slit.

Calico sounds like the name of a character in a novel.

My name is Jonathan. Not Jon, John, Johnathan, Jonathon, etc.

Jonathan. that's what I go by. My middle name is Worthington. I damn sure ain't gonna go by "Worthington."

my nickname is the (LN)-train

I like full names- i mean, i dont' often shorten someone's name and even my own, i just shorten to the first letter, not gab or gabby (i hate that).
i always thought calico was so avant garde, till calista flockharte became popular and nobody seemed to notice how odd her name is.

I perused the FBI data banks and kept finding the name 'Wanted' in front of my first name.

Perhaps they know something that I don't? You know.....with all of that fancy dancy intel and stuff?

David. Most people call me Dave, except for family members. That extra little bit of formality from using both syllables always jars my ear slightly.

mmmm. Gabrielle.. I love that name.. fitting.

Rl name is Tony.

thank you! i'll just continue to call you milo though. its easier. lol

MR. DB I've been looking for you

Sugarplum.. you can call me whatever you want.. call me from the bed.. call me from the kitchen counter.. the bathroom.... couch...

If I could change my name.. Id change it to Milo anyways.. its a strange name but I like it.

my name is john.

its much to plain, and i prefer john robert, my first and middle name.

my full name is john robert holmes II (after my late grandfather) and going by john holmes II would make my life more difficult- for example ordering pizza is more difficult.

im thinking of changing my first name to Johnrobert to end much confusion about what to call me.

my parents, being the genuises that they are, gave me a first name and middle name, but decided to call me by my middle name.

Well, what does every effing legit business and gov't agency use to identify you?

Your first name.

So now I have to explain why I use two different names when I am around certain people.

Even worse, my dad used my first name after a UT football coach from the '60's. I have no idea where mom came up with my middle name.

Shoot me.
