Just heard on MTV that it's official. Lead singer for Rage Against the Machine is now Chris Cornell, formerly lead singer of Soundgarden and most recently, solo artist with one album, Euphoria Morning.

I never was crazy about Rage but I'm a freakin Soundgarden NUT. This is the best news I've heard in such a long time. The only thing I'm wondering if their sound will be like old school rage or will they pickup Cornell's sound. Anyone have any inside info? This is the first I heard since I watch like 1 hour of tv a week.

this could be either the next best thing since slices yams,

or a complete bomb.

but I think it will be good

I would assume they'll keep the old rage sound and cornell will have to adapt....the old style sold records so they'll stick with that for a bit....Chris Cornell is the shit though

:teleport:

Remember, both rage and garden sold crazy albums. Superunknown is one of the best alternative albums....it came out amongst a really strong time for the alternative genre. Right in the mix with STP, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, and more...

super unknown is the shit........a little dark at times, but highly original, a full of sincere emotions, and ideas.

don't forget that soundgarden was relativly hard in the old days,

so a hard/hard combination could ensue.

obviuosly with good lyrics too

I'm sure they will do good on the Depends tour! Them getting to be some old fuckers!

RATM is one of the best bands ever.... I wonder what Zack is gonna be doing with his time now...

He's probably going to protest some stupid shit and get himself into trouble. His money will dry up too, I bet. Going solo is just trouble. Euphoria morning was super pussy. I hope Cornell gets back to his hardcore roots. I remember "Badmotorfinger". That album was badass....

Yeah, Outshined and Rusty Cage were the shit. Superunknown had it's great moments too, hate spooneman due to all the radio play

uhhhhh, am I the only one who can see that there is NO FUCKING WAY Cornell can adapt to the old rage style??? His voice is nothing like Zack's. they're going to retool themselves, they have to....it'll be interesting though to see what they come with though.

BPB is right,

Zach's voice was the perfect counter part to the music they played.

I can't see anyone replacing him, unless they sound EXACTLY like him, even then it wouldn't be the same.

LOL, I know it's old news but it's new to me! I rarely watch TV so when I hear it, i'm rocked.

Don't rain on my parade brother!!!

I think you other guys need to have a little faith...I think someone else's voice can pull off rage's stuff. Let's just wait and see.

I think I recall reading somewhere that the new Rage sound way more like rock n roll, compared to the Rap/Rock style they had with Zach. Either way you cut the cheddar, I think Cornell sucks and was dissapointed to hear that he took over as lead singer. At one point B Real from Cypress Hill was rumoured to be taking over and I was quite excited about that. I will style try to keep a somewhat open mind about Cornell until I hear the music, but it's tough. I hated him in Soundgarden and I hated his solo shit.

How can you say that, man? Superunknown was one of the most noteworthy Alternative albums ever! I gotta admit, Cornell went to hell during his solo time. His shit with Temple of the Dog was cool, though.

What the heck Pikey?

How much of his solo stuff did you here...i bet none...
That Cd didn't get so much publicity and it looks like you have made up your mind on whether you will like the next Cd already.

Sure, i agree that his solo wasn't great but the point is unless you were a soundgarden fan you would have never heard his solo.

You're right, Seb...The album had a couple of really good songs. "Can't Change Me" was actually a damn good song and had some cool lyrics to boot.

I concur. While I actually like some of Cornell's stuff...he does not fit with Rage. They will definitely change their sound drastically...and for the worse I believe. Not takin anything away from Cornell...I just dont see it being half of what it was.

I was fired up when I thought they were gonna sign B Real...that would have been a much better fit in my opinion.

I personally liked Steel Rain and Follow My Way...

I went to his concert on the euphoria Morning tour. It was in a theatre kind of atmosphere but i loved it. At one point he got a guy from the crowd and with the whole band behind him he sang O Canada....everyone in the crowd was singing along. It was cool. The best thing about his singing is that he really gets in it. Damn it sure beats those bastard fags backstreet boys and shit like that where they don't even make their own lyrics.
