R-ALA stability?

What causes R-ALA to become unstable/breakdown?

Temperature?

Air?

Both?

Now if either of these... what happens during capping and shipping?

My suspicion is that the instability/breakdown happens with exposure to oxygen, surely this still happens when they are capped and put in a container? The container is not vaccum sealed and even if it were then once it's open.... the caps are porous....

Thanks!

the switching from the R to the S isomer is not a reaction with another compound like oxygen etc. To switch, the molecules need a bit of activation energy, can someone say higher temperature? So keep your stuff cool. BTW, I would never buy R-ALA, because as far as I know there is no way to tell if you get racemic or the R enantiomer.

Yeah but if you buy AF's Glucorell and have confidance in them.... seem to be good guys...

OK so the "breakdown" I am talking about actually converts R>S???

How much temp and how long?

Thanks!

One good reason you can't tell the difference is that you've never tried R+. Anyone who has used both knows the difference the same day. One of the reasons Glucorell R is the largest provider of R+ALA in the world is because other brands tried to use racemic and said it was R+. People who tried those brands felt the difference and came back to Glucorell R. We get letter about it all the time.

Hey Ulter, can you comment on/explain the breakdown thing? Thanks!
