Quick questions. K to those who help.

Ok so recently I've been doing 5x5 and I'm doing 320 on Squats. More than I have ever done before so it's a lot of weight for me. Only 19 though. Basically I just came back to school and my school supplies belts for squats so I used one and I have noticed lower back pain when I DO use a belt. This didn't happen 4 weeks ago at the same weight without a belt. Is it safe to drop the belt? I do hyperextensions after my leg workout. The pain isn't a wincing pain, just a dull tension in the sacrum.

K to those who help.

I experience some back while doing the 5x5 and I only used a belt while going for records near the end of the program. I think the back pain stems from over use.

Belts can be counter productive if you always use them. Your stabilizer muscles will become weaker from the support that the belt gives.

IMO use a belt when going really heavy only.

Ok that is what I was thinking too. It didn't happen the first week I did it. Only the third and fourth week I used the belt so I think my muscles weakened there. Any other opinions?

Simply slapping a belt on won't help you if you're accustomed to lifting belt free. You need to learn how to use a belt to be able to wear it effectively. It's quite plausible that it is throwing your positioning and balance out.

Don't use it if you feel no need for it, let your body do it's own support work.

Yeah, I think I am going to drop it. I know how to use a belt and have used one in the past. I think it is throwing my balance out.
