quick HCG sub q question...

Just did my first HCG(sub q) shot and have a couple questions...

first, I used a 29g 1/2" pin. I had some problems drawing the water because the needle wouldn't reach the bottom of the vial, but I managed to get in 1cc into the syringe. the injection went smooth but I was wondering about reusing the slin needle. I am going to keep it in the fridge. I've got 1500IU in 1cc and plan on .3cc (500iu) injections eod for two weeks. but the needle is fixed to the syringe so I'd have to reuse that same needle for the next two injections. It's just subq ( I would never reuse a needle for IM). What do you guys think, is that ok, or should I use a 25g 5/8" with a new pin everytime? do they sell slin pins with removeable needles?

It will be fine but it is not my recommendation. The needle will be sharp enough, just not sterile as I would like it. I prefer to inject the HCG into a multi dose vial and dilute it down to 500IU for 1cc, then draw that with a new slin pin. If you are going to reuse the same pin, make it as sterile as possible. Wipe it with Alcohol before injecting.

Slin pinz are cheap enough that I use it and just throw it away. Why risk getting an infection or something worse over a few cents??? Don't reuse.

skin and strong, not sure if you read my post all the way through, but getting enough pins isn't the problem. I'm only using .3cc out of the 1cc in the pin. It sounds like what i need is a sterile multi dose vial to inject into like corno suggested. I'll get right on that.

Exactly! I agree with everyone that you should not reuse the pin. Just wanted to make that point clear.

I got you on that Corno, thanks again for the help. I just ordered the vials and I guess I'll just load it up with 4500iu of HCG and draw from that. but just for the record, my hcg supply is low and I'm at the end of my cycle and need every IU. I will most likely have to reuse that slin pin and take my chances. but I'll just do 1000iu so I.... wait, i just had an idea!!! I'll pull the plunger out of the used syringe and draw up the remaining hcg with a new slin pin from the back end. that should be sterile for the next few injects until my vials come in.
