Im about to order Verizon DSL for my new apartment.

Anyway, both my girl and I only use cell phones to communicate with everyone so we were not planning on activating a phone carrier for our landline.

I know that when we move in today they will give us our phone number, but Im wonder if DSL can still work if the landline is not activated to make and recieve regular telephone calls?

Most phone co's will make you have a land line if you are wanting DSL, it uses the same line, so it normally has to be active.

If you don't want the phone and have to get it, you may want to look in to getting cable.

Ditto on Xbiker's post. I believe you will need an active phone line. Phones have 4 wires but calls use only two; DSL uses the other two. If you have to get a phoneline cable will be net cheaper AND faster. As an ex customer I wouldn't wipe my ass with Verizon DSL.

Thanks much guys. Cable it is.

I have Verizon Ave. Verizon DSL for apartment buildings.. You gotta have land line to get it though..

Want cable when I move
