what are the name of the different certification programs there are for personal trainers?

I'm currently enrolled with ISSA. If you go over to the P.T. forum there are some threads that list a lot of different associations. NFPT, and ACSM are a couple of others. Dr. Fred Hatfield wrote the textbook for ISSA. I figure, if the guy can squat over 1000 pounds, he knows some shit!

thanks, i didnt even know there was such a forum

NASM, and ACSM... nasm is a pile of crap though, but you have to have it to train at 24hr fitness... and you have to use it... HURRAY FOR DICTATORSHIPS,

NSCA and ACSM are good - more geared towards professional sports trainers
ACE is a joke - very popular because of minimal training and educational requirements.

ISSA is good...ACE is one of the best..

NSCA ACSM are very reputable.

The ISSA is supported by the IFBB!

I have the ACE and and the ISSA certif. I also have the Rehab and Advanced Certif from ACE

ISSA is going to be pretty challenging. From my point of view (been training for 15 years) I thought I knew enough to get pretty close on the test. I was wrong. The other thing is that you have to be certified in CPR, also.

NSCA has the CSCS and the CPT. I have the CSCS, I heard it was the most difficult. I don't know another person in the flesh who has it. You have to have a degree to take it.
