Questions about Web Hosting

How does one choose a web host?

I have a friend who wants to set up a simple website. The site won't do anything interactive, no shopping cart, etc. It's main purpose will be just to display, which means it'll have lots of pictures. I imagine she'll want to periodically change the pictures on display, so she needs a service that can accomodate that. She'll want something where she can have her own domain name w/o alot of other junk in it, and of course no pop-ups or anything.

Any recommendations for good hosting services for this purpose?

well it only happened once during the year, and it was only for a few hours -- but instead of just pretending like it never happened aftr it went up - they acutlaly were courteous to call everyone.
