So I am thinking about taking the plunge. I’ve been lifting on and off for almost 11 years, but that includes a couple multi-year breaks from any consistent kind of exercise. I would always get up to the high 180s in weight and then hurt myself or let some bullshit interfere with my motivation. As I’ve aged I’ve gotten better at following through with things in general, and the gym is no exception. Over the last year I’ve gotten pretty dedicated, disciplined myself about diet and started to focus on the core lifts and started to attack my weaknesses instead of avoiding them. I’ve started taking a creatine/NO stack that seems to help get me pumped. I’ve taken pro-hormones in the past, but that was before my diet and workout routine was straight, I definitely got something out of it, but not what I could have. I gotten some decent gains in strength, but my weight gain is stubbornly small.
I would like to keep 15 pounds of muscle which would put me at about 200 lbs. I don’t really care about temporary strength or weight gains. To me that’s pointless. I would like to burst through the unseen barrier that seems to restrain me to under 190.
So test ent seems to be the consensus choice for a gear virgin. I am thinking 200-250mg a week for 8-10 weeks. Is a permanent 15 pound gain realistic? Yes I realize diet ultimately governs the rate of gain, so assuming 1-1.5 of quality protein a day plus lots of quality carbs (oatmeal, wheat bread, veggies). If 15 pounds of keepable muscle is totally unrealistic, then what is realistic?
I seem to be a bit of a hardgainer, I can’t gain more that about a pound a week even while eating 1.5 grams of protein a day and training 5 times a week. Maybe I just have unrealistic expectations.
I take 30mg of adderall a day (this probably contributes to the difficulty in gaining weight), and smoke weed every night. I drink occasionally, probably a total of 7-8 beers a week.
CONCERNS:
This is certainly not something I’m just going to jump into. If I’m going to do this, I will get the most I can possibly get out of it.
Of course I’m concerned about the typical shit: balls shrinking and hairloss. But it seems like there are ways (PCT, nolvo, propecia etc.) to minimize my chance of getting them, and reduce the damage should they pop up. The balls shit doesn’t seem to be prevalent with test, is this correct? The sides just seem like a roll of the dice, some people get hit hard, some not at all, and there’s no way of telling which group you fit in to until you try it out. Am I right?
I would like to ask about a couple non-typical nagging concerns I have.
I am susceptible to depression. I guess I took too many fun substances that mess with your serotonin levels in my youth. If there is a significant chance that a cycle will bring me down I don’t think it’s for me. I don’t know about taking an anti-depressant while on. That just seems like it would be too many chemical influences in my body fighting for control. What about the PCT drugs? Do they hold the potential of bringing me down?
How does the megolmaniacal/powerful/dominant feeling that you get from test compare with the feelings you get from pro-hormones? I’m just looking for personal experience and maybe an anecdote. I know there’s know scientifically quantifiable way to measure the superman effect. But what are talking about here, coffee vs. methamphetamine? Beer vs. Jagermeister?
Thanks so much to everyone here. This is a great resource, and I’ve learned sooooo much!
Peace.
