Questions about my first fina kit

I just recieved my first kit and made my first bottle. When I heated it up I think the glue oxidized, because the filler stuck together in a little ball after I swirlwed it around. When I got done with the procedure, I had 2 layers, the top was about 2/3 thicker than the bottom, and the top appeared to be the oil, while the bottom appeared to be the "magic solution". When I seperated and filterd the solution I just did the top part, the oily part, even though the bottom was clear due to the filler being bound together in a ball.

Did I do this correctly, or did I need to get the rest of the solution also, (the bottom layer?)
