Questionabout bankruptcy and auto title

New member
I recently filed for bankruptcy. I have $1k left to pay off my car (Ford Credit). I have not received a statement for it so I called them. I was told that the reason I have not received it is because the debt was discharged. I did list them but I did not file for bankruptcy as I wanted to keep my auto. I was told by one of their reps that I do not owe that amount but I will not have the title to my car unless I pay it off. I know I am naive. Should I pay it off or not?

In your first sentence you say you filed for bankruptcy then a little later you said you did not file for bankruptcy. Which is it and you will need a title to your car if you ever sell it. If you are in bankruptcy, maybe you can settle with them for pennies on the dollar.

I filed for bankruptcy with all my debtors beside Ford Credit. But you already answered my question though. I do want to eventually sell the car. Thanks.

^^^Listen to this man. He has 24,000+ posts which means he MUST know what he's talking about.

You need to get the title to your car. I think this is something that your lawyer will have to handle. By law, FMC is not allowed to even let you pay that debt. Talk to your lawyer.
