so i had my testosterone level checked a week ago and nurse called me back and said my level is 354. She went onto say that it is "high". I told her that is the bottom of the range and she said that is my "free test"... "we test for this and that and this and that"... Pretty much sounded like she didn't know her ass from a hole in the ground and was talking in circles...

I gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking that there may be another range/measurement she was referring to...

can anybody on here think of what that may be?

as a background, I have been doing 100mg test every week along with 250i eod of HCG - human chorionic gonadotropin - , prior to test... I have been doing this because my level WAS at 99... Looking to get on HRT, but doc wants me off test and hcg for 2 weeks so he can test my "prolactin" to determine if pituitary problem causing low test... then mri of pituitary contingent on prolactin level...

If I remember correctly............please someone correct me if I am wrong....

Total testosterone is free test plus testosterone bound to SHBG- sex hormone binding globulin.....

There is also test that binds to albumin in the blood.....

So you have free test
Test bound to SHBG
Test bound to albumin

Youre right cream. If total test is under 350 then you by the standards of medicine you qualify for HRT... no if ands or buts about it. If you range from 354 to 450 then any doctor has the right to prescribe it to you BUT youre insurance has the right NOT to cover it. Under 350 insurance pays. Over 350... depends what insurance you have.
My advice to you... Stop taking everything. Get tested a few weeks later when you will have low levels of test (under 350 total) and get the prescription which insurance will have to cover. Just dont tell your doctor you did any anabolic androgenic steroids because if the insurance gets a hold of that info they can say no to coverage. Anything for those bastards not to pay. Lets all move to Canada!!! lol

Yeah, but I went to see the doctor because my levels were originally 99... he wanted me to take another test (as I had told him i had been taking 100mg/week of test) to get my levels up (that is what my primary doc wanted to do anyway, but I did it myself to avoid office fees)... SO, he is wanting to see WHY I had low levels to begin with... the test that came back at 354 was because I had been taking 100mg/week for the last few weeks... along with hcg...

damn bro, I just had an MRI 2 weeks ago to test my pituitary gland also, my problem is my fsh and lh levels were nonexistant, but I was on when they did the original test to determine that. I've been off test prop for 3 weeks now, and have started 100 mg of clomid ed for 10 days to see if it makes a difference in my fsh and lh levels. I think the nurse didn't know what she was taking about. talk to your doctor about the results.

yeah the test and hcg made your testosterone test results higher. get off of it go back for a blood test 4 weeks later and you will be low again. let me do his tests and then write you the scripts.

Yah, but if the test was for free testosterone levels it is high. If it is for total test it is not??? You need to be sure what the number was representing, as well as the measure. Was it is pg/ml or another measure????

My free test was at 66 pg/ml which is in the normal range but at the low end. This is post cycle...only about 1 month after 20 weeks on.
