Question on PWO Protein Drinks

I have what might be a fairly stupid question about Post-workout protein drink:

Today, I ate before lifting weights and did HIIT cardio after. By the time I got to the cardio, it had been over 2 hours since my last meal (empty stomach cardio).

But, after lifting (and before cardio) I drank a whey protein drink. Did that mess up my cardio on an empty stomach or is drinking an 8 oz protein drink (whey mixed with water) negligible in that respect? Thanks... ;)
 
This type of quandry is EXACTLY why I think weights and cardio - especially HIIT - should be separated. There is NO perfect solution to this, except split them.

I do not see how you can maximize both weights and HIIT when they are back to back.

Next time, omit the protein shake after training.

Basically, when you did your cardio, you burned off what you just consumed (your protein shake) and probably didn't dip into fat stores much at all.

DOing them together is silly. Can't possibly maximize both.

HIIT =empty stomach = recipe for muscle loss......

have a whey shake at a minimum, do your HIIT, than have your recorvery shake if its after training.......

stick to low, mod inensity in am......great recipe for losing weight HIIT early am, but it will be sacrificing muscle.
