why is it my one rep max for a barbell curl is different when my back is to the wall compared to when it is not. and my form is is great so im not swinging while im not against a wall. its a question on an exam and i dont really know the answer...obviously.

well this would be because when your not against the wall you have to stablize yourself, when you have some support it helps you out
 
Along with what ajay said ...it also has to do with pure bicep strength rather than using some other muscles in the rom while just standing w/out the wall..like shoulders back and even some legs by swinging. you are isolating as much as possible when against the wall. Good luck man
