Question for runners

mdd

New member
i've been running alot more lately, have been having some soreness in my legs

i'm going to be buying a new shoe and started reading about underpronating and overpronating runners. can anyone explain this more to me and help me figure out if i am over/under/neutral?, i couldnt find much info on the net on it, besides that some shoes are made for each type

thanks

Look at the wear pattern of your old shoes. If they are worn heavily on the inside you need motion control shoes because your ankles roll inward when you step. I have low arches and a slight pronation so I went with stability shoes, Asics GT-2100.

Call around at REAL running stores and ask for one that does stride or gate analysis (same thing.) I'd suggest not trying to totally diagnose it on your own.

The soreness in your legs though it just your body adjusting.

PERFECT advise. I had this done locally and found out I needed to special order some quality shoes in order to stop the pains I was getting. This should be done regardless of pain to ensure you'll have a less cahnce of getting hurt in the future.

Try FLEET FEET and see if there's a location near you.

thanks for the advise guys. i went to fleet feet today and got fitted

they put me as a high overpronator.. now i just need to find a good shoe for it! thanks again!

Don't increase your milage by more than 10% a week. setting yourself up for injury. It is ok to be sore, but make sure it is not pain. As far as shoes go, I agree with synpax. Call REAL stores (not dicks or sneaker king or foot locker) but look for the small mom and pop stores or try roadrunner or national running center. they are mail order but you can call and ask to speak to a sales rep. here are a few sites that can point you in the right direction:
