Question for Exodus

What kind of shoes do you do Overhead Squats with? I know most of the people that do them say you should use those olympic shoes. Just wondering what you used because I know you do the exercise. Thanks.

lol

i do them in chucks. people who do compete olympic lifting wear the shoes with the heel. i dont. we all know im a powerlifter. and i have a weak point in my hips, and this exercise kills them.

it works the same with all three.

Front Squats
Zercher Squats
Overhead Squats

all three work the crap out of your quads. (dont get me wrong, i feel all three in my quads too.) But i dont do them with a close or moderate stance. i do them as wide, or wider than my normal squats. and yes i feel it in my quads a good bit, but when all 3 of those exercises are done with a wide stance, all 3 put incredible stess on the hips.

if you wear flat shoes, squat wide, and point your toes straight, i guarantee you will feel what i mean!!!

Yes, thanks a lot Exodus. I've been learning OH squat in chucks and I was told I should wear a heeled shoe. I tried it in a heeled shoe and it's a lot easier, but I've always had a problem sitting back into any kind of squat I'm doing. I'm trying a wider stance on front squat with chucks and they feel good. I'm going to try regular PL style squats outside of my power cage because it's just not wide enough for me (I'm 6').
 
See what I mean, this was a while ago and I've improved a lot but it's still hard for me to squat right:

I know having knees somewhat forward isn't that bad, but I think this is excessive.
 
yeah its hard, but the best thing i do when squatting and my knees are going to far forward. i think about being in a square room. and i point my knees into the corners, or wider, if i cant maintain that form, i drop weight.

keep at them.
