rebuilding, getting there

Okay. I live in arkansas for school. I just bought a seadoo in Oklahoma, which i bought from the internet. I am going to register it in Missouri where it will spend most of the time in the water. Oklahoma does not collect sales tax on vehicles which are not brand new. Will I have to pay missouri sales tax? I believe the title now is in Oklahoma.

K for everyone. thanks.

If you register it for the first time in missouri, then I believe you pay tax.

If you register it in oklahoma, I dont think you do.

hey thanks. I'll probably just get a PO box in oklahoma, and save the $1k sales tax.

or you can register it in missouri and say you paid 200$ for it or something.

You don't need a scanner, in Missouri a bill of sale can be scribbled on a dirty napkin in crayon. (Don't ask)

Watercraft and motorcycle sales seldom get reported, unless the seller is looking for the tax credit. Coming from Oklahoma, you should be fine.

FYI, is you do get caught, it's tax fraud, and it can lend up to a year in the hoosecow.

if it is titled in OK right now, can i just have them ''gift'' it to me and only pay the fee to apply for the title?

Same problem with Wa and Or, Oregon has no sales tax so people try to do that. I dont know about Missouri, but Wa goes doesnt go by bill of sale, they go by current values I believe with minimum taxes depending on make model year etc.... At least thats the way it used to be. The sales tax has to be paid in the state upon licensing and if you get caught its a huge fine and they run checks alot like people do that with cars and they run the license plates of people driving with Or plates on the Wa side and then crossreference the registered name with utility bills or similar.
I dont know about missouri at all though.

Normally vehicles are titled, taxed & registered in one state, which is where the vehicle will be garaged.....ie where it "lives." So wherever you're gonna keep the thing is where you would pay the sales tax...
