Question about Red wine.

I have heard that a glass of wine is good to have every night but does it have to be red? If so what is the sweetest red wine out there I could buy that would still be good for me. I usually like blushes and reds are a little dry. Would a rose be considered a red? What would be a nice tasty kind ?

Buy a bottle of LAMBRUSCO! That, my friend, is a nice wine......you'll love it.

That's what I was going to say too brother! It's sweet, but not candy sweet like those cheapass wino wines. It also has the perfect amount of carbonation in it too, that makes it taste a tad bit like a wine cooler, but again--not as sweet in flavor. Burgundy is a decent "Red" as well.

CC, serve 'Brusco chilled, or over ice. Rose' would be like White Zinfendel(pinkish in color). WZ is a little bit more tart than Lambrusco. Another popular Red is Merlot, which is served at room temperature and is tart as FUCK ALL. It's a yuppy wine and tastes terrible--like vinegar. As far as weather or not the wine has to be red, I'm not sure. I know that Red contains tons of anti-oxidants though, so maybe Red is your best bet.

If you like white, I would recommend Chardonnay.:martini: :drink2:

Salud brother!

Lambrusco is 14 dollars for a 3L bottle. That, my friends, is garbage wine.

Get yourself a bottle of Bonny Doon Pacific Rim Riesling.

Or Bonny Doon Vin de Glaciere. Best dessert wine I've ever had.

Lambrusco surely isn't top-shelf brother I agree, but it definitely isn't "garbage wine". Garbage wines are the likes of MD 20/20, Thunderbird, NightTrain, or Boones. Wino stuff as I said.

Crimson,

They say Red wine specifically is good for the heart. Red wine has powerful anti-oxidants in it that researchers say may help in preventing heart disease.

They have changed that advice to a beer a day being slightly better, in other words some amount of alcohol can be good for you in moderation. I can find the "beer a day" article if I must, someone posted it on some board at some time...

Vixen I actually picked up a rasberry wine (St George Framboise Royale) and a cherry wine (Kijafa) Alcohal content is about 18% on these and one glass of the cherry wine has warmed me up nicely. Kind of like a cross between wine and Brandy is only way I can describe it.

CC. If you end up liking the Lambrusco, I believe that Reunite' makes a Raspberry Lambrusco that is quite tastey as well.

Sorry can't help you with "sweet"...I prefer dry red wines. For those of you that like them.....Kendall Jackson Vintner Reserve is a very good, affordable Merlot.

My personal favorite is Black Opal Merlot/Cabernet blend. Like I said...it is not sweet at all. However for those of you that read this that like dry red wines...I think you would be pleased if you tried it.

White Merlot by Sutter Homes is nice. (A little on the sweet side).

But the dark reds are suppose to be the best for you!

I like sweet reds, one of my favorite alcohols is sangria, damn tasty. Dry reds are ok too, they hit the spot :)

I don't know how well-off you are financially, but if you're pretty budget-constrained (like me) and and still want to have your glass of wine every night, go check out the wine section at a Trader Joe's store. They've got stores all over SoCal, so you probably have one close to you. You can pick up some surprisingly nice-tasting wine very cheap there (often as low as $4-5/bottle).

Granted, it's not going to be on the same level as some of the previous wines listed, and a connoisseur would turn his nose up at them, but really... the wines they carry do taste pretty good.
