Question about glute inject

illkickurass

New member
I did my first injection the other day(into the glute) and I felt no pain. However the day after, and today, I feel pain. But it's not in the glute, it's in my lower back. Can anyone explain this?

It could be as simple as you hyperextended a back muscle when you were injecting, or you might have hit too close to the sciatic nerve. If there is swelling in the glute closeby the sciatic nerve, it can push on it and cause back pain and lower leg pain as well. Did you inject the "upper outer quadrant" correctly? If not, if you went to the middle of the glute (closer to the crack than to the outer hip), then you probably got too near the nerve.

Just to be clear; I'm not a doctor, and even a doctor would need to examine & test in order to diagnose. So what I'm saying is my own personal experience ONLY, which may or may not have anything to do with your situation.

I've had this happen before - where the soreness is like 6 inches away from the spot I stuck myself. I have no explanation for it, but it goes away.
