Question about corporate environments

Ok. I was a originally hired with a certain job description. Can they after 2 years of being employed, change the job description then hold you liable/reprimand(sp?) IF you do not agree with the responsibilities without getting more income? My current job has given us more responsibilities and now is making us take some test to get some customer service certification. Even though they are paying us overtime to study, I do not have the time to come in on my day off and study. I have no idea what will happen if I fail this test mind you. Why should I spend my time to pass a test that will is no way benefit my position or income?

From my experiences, I would say, they can do just about whatever they want.

For the sake of all US workers, if your life is total shit, please sacrifice yourself and take a gun to work and shoot all those responsible for this right in their fucking heads. amen.

I feel for you man, the only advice I can offer is: find a way to make a living without having another man sign your paycheck, without having a boss demand that you do this, and demand that you do that, be your own boss make your own money.

it's called "employment at will" which means that they can change your job description any time they want, lower your salary any time they want and fire your sorry ass on the spot without giving any reason at all. The only exception is if you live in the state of California (more emplyeee friendly laws) or if you're in a "protected class" where something negative could be perceived as discrimination.

This is "exactly" why when you see your shot to get out of the "game"...take it bro. Legal or not. No matter.... Thing to consider if it's "worth it," and if you can get "away with it." Nobody else is looking out for you, and the way legitamite/legal working jobs like "Cooperate America" is,... is a fucking joke. Fuck them. Look out for yourself, never do anything on job that you don't have to unless, you are going to get something out of it in return. Because if you do do something nice/ a favor for the company, whatever it may be....Believe me, it won't be appreciated 99.9% of the time. ALWAYS look for what "you" can get out of them. Sad that this is the way things are,... but they are. They will fire you at the drop of a dime, for whatever "reason(s)," if it's in their best interests. Anybody who thinks otherwise is just fooling themsleves, and niave, if they don't give some credit to this, and the way things are in cooperate America.

I want to start my own Mafia.....

Anybody in?....

Seeing "Goodfella's" is a plus,... and seen and observed enough times, would be considered as work experience on your resume'.

Found out last week that the acctng group that i am in will be non exempt and considered hourly. Think it is some BS way of them posting jobs and getting in people at a lower salary, but making them do the work that a salaried person would do.

As long as they don't touch my pay, i don't give a fuck what they call me... Cost Accountant to Billing Rep now.. Whatever... I produce, so they can't give me any bullshit that i'm not doing what they ask.

I'm even the tech guy sometimes.. Help network/map, hook up printers to new people that come aboard.
