Question about cigarettes, a little different however....

Ok, well in the past year I've completely stopped drinking. Tomorrow will be my one year date to which I havent had a single drink in a year. I do however have one small thing I can't completely get rid of, and thats smoking. However, I now only smoke on friday's and saturday's and I only smoke like 6 cigs total, 3 each day and its mostly at night. I may have one sometime during the week after dinner, but that's rare. My question is this, I'm currently on which I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not, but I'm curious to the question whether smoking may hinder my gains. Truth be told, I know they are horrible in every other aspect, but I'm wondering if it could be hindering my gains at all. It does speed up your metabolism correct? I know when I smoke I do tend to eat more, Like I'll be full, smoke a cig, and then be hungry again. I believe smoking does hinder the absorbtion of certain vitamins? Does anyone kinda see where I'm going with this? People do lose weight when they smoke, and that could be a result of increased metabolism, but I'm wondering if it could effect my body's anabolism to ability to build muscle. Anyone have any comments?

TIme for me to come clean as well....I have smoked 1-1.5 packs a day for the past 20 years with maybe a total of 2 years of being quit in the mix.

I am TRYING to quite again. I'm on the patch and tapering down. Quitting DEFINITELY will hamper your gains, cut your appetite, speed up your metabolism, etc.

If you are only smoking 6 cigs a week, I cannot imagine that doing a whole lot to you. I wish I had that type of willpower, but I'm an addict - all or nothing.

If you can get by on that few, why not quit all together?

As an ex-smoker i agree w/ iceman in saying you are torturing yourself by just having a few a week and inviting temptation in the door to become a full blown human chimney again. I did this song and dance for years before i finally gave it up completly. You'll be glad that you did. As far as affecting your gains goes, i read some where that nicotine has some decent anti-e effects so that would be a good thing amidst a hoard of bad things like a massive increase in free radicals, vasocontriction (to starve your poor muscles of nutrients), etc. All in all, you should just give it up all together but if you can't i don't think it will hinder your growth all that much.

I smoked for 10 years and never got anywhere as soon as I quit I started eating alot and sleeping a lot. I figured I better funnel all this eating in the right direction. I went from 155 at 6' to 185 then cut to 170 but wasn't happy with my size so then I went back up to 192 and seemed stuck, so I cut to 180 and then did a cycle and went up to 204 now I'm down to 200-202 and thinking of holding it here till my next cycle. Bro since I went cold turkey my life is a lot more fulfilling and I am free from cigarrettes crippling grip. Good luck bro.

Congrulations on your one year,

For tobbaco, simply have to go cold turkey,

6 today 7 next year than 10 than 15 etcc,

quit today, for the fourth of July

Increase your test to 1g per week for a couple of weeks that help ease the addition

suck it up

If this was me though, it would drive me fucking crazy, because your feeding your body just enough nicotine to crave a cigarette all week, and then you do it again every weekend, I would go nuts. If you can go all week without one, why do you need them on the weekend?

Iceman nailed it on the head. You are giving yourself just enough nicotine to keep yourself craving it. You have to quit completely.

People talk about how hard it is to quit smoking. It isn't hard. It is just too easy to start again.

yeah, i quit 3 days ago too. let me know how it goes for you. i'm ready to pull someones teeth out with pliers. Test doesn't make me agressive, but lack of cigarettes does

Hey man I'm in the exact same boat as you empty. About a year and a half ago I quit drinking. I had tried to quit smoking before but when I would drink I could not resist. But when I quit drinking it was very simple to quit smoking. I quit both on the same exact day and have never looked back and have never felt better. I don't know how much cigs are now days but I just heard about a $.50 tax which I'm sure will bring it up to around $5/pack just a total waste. More money for gear. Good luck.
