question about blood pressure

needsize

I just stuck my arm in one of the blood pressure machines in the drug store(as much as my arm would fit anyway), and it came out 128 over 44. I know the 128 part is good, but anything under 80 for the 2nd number is supposed to be normal, but 44 is half that, is this good/bad or did the machine make a mistake?

there's no way you can an accurate reading with your arm bro....I can barely fit mine in also....you need to hit a drugstore that has a forearm machine.....

all the drugstores around here have the same machine, last time I went to the docs he had trouble getting the leg cuff on my arm, which was cool. I just wanted to know if it was off the hook with the water retention, but it looks like its not

Get someone to test it with one of those finger or wrist dealies. Your dont want low diastolic BP, it can lead to all kinds of problems but below 60 or so you shouldn't really be mobile. I know that low diastolic and high systolic can be a sign of artery stiffness.

Well, maybe I am wrong. My mom has low BP and when it drops below 90/60 she gets dizzy at 90/55 she drops to the floor. But, now I'm seeing that some people, including elite athletes, can go to a diastolic of 50 or even lower without symptoms.

You have been taking a diuretic, right?

nope, no diuretetic for over a week now, it wasnt doing anything

I don't trust those store machines. I bought my own with an extra large cuff and it is great. I would reccomend it NS or visit a doc for a physical.
