PW...Dextrose vrs Solid hi-GI food

Really, does it make a difference? Lets say I take 75g dextrose PW, but then decided to switch to 75g of high GI carbs coming from a solid food (fat free danish for example). Would it make any difference what so ever? The dextrose has been working great, but I think I'd enjoy it a lot better by eating the same amount of high GI carbs coming from a whole food source. However, if the dextrose is still better then I'll stick with that.

I know dextrose is better. I'm not going to say why, because I forget. :)

I'll wait for someone else to explain why.

50% dextrose
+ 50% maltodextrins

and liquid is better than solid food if you want a quick insulin spike

Of course liquid dextrose is better.............

A few reasons come to mind: First, the fact that even a high GI food will take longer to digest than a liquid dextrose solution (that's just a fact). Second, dextrose would probably bring a higher anabolic effect PW (post workout). So, drinking dextrose w/ that much of an insulin spike will surely increase anabolism PW.

I don't think it really matters that much at all. Considering dextrose is used for kids with some metabolic disorders emergently and that those same kids often just eat some candy to prevent those same emergencies. It's not like they're walking around with dextrose kits.

They eat candy that is 90% dextrose and 10% fructose. Diabetic and recovery kids are usually hooked up to an IV for intra-blood transfusions of glucose because it's a faster way to recover. They are also mostly given liquid dextrose to increase blood sugar during insulin OD (type I diabetic that is).

Its a case of optimal or good enough. The liquid nutrition is no question optimal, the solid foor will most likely taste better. Look at your goals and where you stand in relation to them. If you feel you can get away with good enough great see how it works with your body. If you are dead on serious and want to compete then stick with optimal. For me personally I am happier with good enough b/c I like the solid food and do not notice a difference in results. Most important thing is to see how YOU react, pick something and then don't stress over your decision.
Good Luck!!!
