A bit of a long one, stop me if anything info here is wrong...
Ive been reading about how it is very hard for a person to put on good quality muscle mass while reducing fat. The reason, which sound simple enough, is... to build muscle u (basically) need a surplus of calories and to loose fat you need to use more than you consume.
Im trying to get back into training after over a year and a half off with a torn labrum (2 lots of surgery on the shoulder), and over that time im up to an embarassing 24% body fat. Ive just started running 8Kms a night 6 days a week but also going to the gym 3 nights a week.
Considering what I said in the first paragraph could someone tell me if the following is likely to bring me good results. BOTH with muscle mass increase as well as fat loss.
On the days I dont train I will eat six small meals a day and run atleast 8kms as well as a few 20 minute walks throughout the day.
On training days I plan to have a surplus of cals, basically from a few protein shakes (mixed with a few fruits) and one or two slightly larger meals.
Im taking lglutamine & WPI on training days for repair, and Lcarnitine with something called Thermofeul for fat utilization during cardio stuff.
Considering I get enbough rest and dont overtrain, will having a surplus of cals on training day be enough to increase muscle mass. And will the fat supps I have before cardio as well as less cals on my cardio days result in fat loss at the same time??
