another question form the computer illiterate here:

one of the IT guys at work said i should "defrag the system".

what is this, why should i do it, what does it do, how do i do it ??

go into my computer where your drive is. Right click on it. Click on properies, then tools, then degragment now...

When you save files on your disk they get stored in pieces all over the disk. The bigger the file the more pieces. When you open that file the disk has to go find each of those pieces to open the whole file which takes time...we're still talking microseconds. As you add/delete files it gets worse and worse.
Defragmentation is when you tell the system to store all the parts of each file together so they open/close faster.

looks like they took care of it but its good to do this about once every week...It won't take nearly as long if you do it fairly often.
