Just took my daily shot, this time to my left delt and when i pulled out there was puss in the syringe. It felt very tough going in (scar tissue) when i finished the inject and pulled out there it was. There has been no pain, redness, swelling or anything. What gives?? BY the way this must be my 300'th shot and this is the first time this has happened. All answers are appreciated.

How do you know it was pus?

Did it smell bad?

Sometimes one can develop a lipoma (fat collection) under the skin, so maybe it was fat.

If it was pus, then it is likely you have an ongoing infection and will need antibiotic therapy +/- incision and drainage. Go and see your doctor if you develop any of the following:

increased pain/redness/swelling or fever.

Hope this helps.

Lipoma..have not heard of this before. Can I have this even though im lean and very hard in the arms? It was a yellowish liquid so i just figured puss. Caught me by surprise because as i mentioned no symptoms. I injected in the left delt last time about a week ago and it was fine. It was VERY hard to push in this time though. This is interesting. Im used to what an abcess feels like because i had one develop about a year ago in my right delt..the liquid actually drained down my right arm into my elbow. My whole outside right arm was red and sore to the touch. Took some antibiotics and knocked it out in a week or so. This is nothing like that. Thanks for the suggestions! Any more replies?
