purchasing cloths as a bodybuilder

I have never been so pissed off as I was yesterday trying to purchase pants that fit. I wear 38 around the waist but I need 42 for my legs to fit. so split the difference and end up having to buy 40 which are too big in the waist but they are still about to pop my nuts! I hate that shit!! what do you guys do to remedy such a perdicament?

I always have to get a waist size too big to accomidate my legs too. In addition I usually only wear levi's silver tab baggies which give me some decent leg room without having to go too damn large in the waist.

And to think, with the way kids wear thier pants now, we dont really need to take the waist in, just let them hang half of our ass like everyone else.....:)

GET THE BIGGER SIZE AND GET THE WAIST TAKEN IN! THAT'S WHAT I DO!

that's exactly what I do bro....my waist is usually 34, but I have to get a size 42 for my legs...I'm good friends w/ my taylor now...LOL ;)

Re

Dress shirts are just as bad. You get one that fits in the shoulders and chest and the damn stomach area has baggy ass shirt hanging everywhere. Must be made for guys with big guts I guess.

LOL...and then u can't by the shirts you want either. I find a shirt I like and have to go up to someone that works there and be like "do u carry this in a XXL"....LOL:bawling:

I get my dress close custom made - there is no way around it. Costs an arm and a leg. And now I'm starting to outgrow my XXL shirts. It's going to get ugly.

And I would think you can find a tailor to take in jeans.

Yeah I have some serious problems with jeans, so I have just stopped wearing them. my waist is 32 inches most of the time and I have 27 inch quads. It doesn't work out too well. My friends rip me off about not being able to wear them. But hey, it's part of the deal. I just don't want to end up wearing those baggie pants the pro's wear, damn those look porno.

I'm still fine for shirts though, just sometimes struggle to get the right neck size.

Try T.Reilly clothing. It is specificaly for body builder types and has pretty decent prices and specials at at times...search for it on the net

Don't buy T.Reilly, it's overpriced and the guys a tool!! I just seen him and his big tity wife this weekend at the clubs. F@ck are him and his friends Duchbags(sp)!!!

I have the same problem also. Its not my waist but my damn thighs-i have to get 42's but cant find em. The answer---big and tall store.

The worst for me is finding jacket ( suit etc... )

My chest is 62" going to 63 :)
but damn it all jacket etc,,, at that size are like parachute when you look down, so I have to ask for cut there and there make it fit and look normal:mad:

Hey........my guy buys from T. Reilly and his stuff is awesome - he is always a trend setter! Overpriced - are you crazy? Where do you shop - K-Mart?

I have some pants that fit now but I know when I diet down they will not fit again, could I get a tailor to make the waist smaller? I can't afford to buy new pants again. They are jeans by the way.

Many shirtmakers are going to a spandex/lycra blend in their dress shirts. DKNY comes to mind. That way they conform a little better to an athletic physique. I'd also try international male and undergear for more athletic cuts of clothing. Personally, my only problem is trying to buy a full suit, because if you wear a size 48 then suitmakers assume you have a 44 inch waist for the pants.

There's a practical limit to how much slacks can be taken in - if you need business wear fairly quickly, try Brooks Brothers - they have a suited separate line and have some jackets that are "athletic fit" - you might still have to have the jacked altered. Last time I bought a suit, the salesman at BB told me most designers presume the average guy has a "drop" (chest larger than waist at the navel) of around three inches, eight is considered "athletic" and 12 is considered "extreme." Over half of all American men nowadays have a negative drop (waist bigger than chest), so designers have actually been making shirts looser and looser.

My bodyfat is in the mid-teens right now, and I already have a 12 inch drop - dress shirts are a problem. I get "athletic fit" dress shirts from JCPenney - they fit well at the waist, but a few more inches on the chest and a few more off the waist, and even these will be too baggy. Neck sizes in the store go up to 18 (where I am now - I think you can order bigger through the catalogue.) I got a really nice DKNY dress shirt a few weeks ago that fits great, but another DKNY I bought without trying on I wound up having to sell on eBay at a loss (lost the bloody receipt) because it was far too tight through the shoulders - try all DKNY on before you buy it. For casual clothes, Diesel makes some nice knits that are "clingy" and flattering without being skin-tight.

I don't have a suggestion for the jeans problem - not only are quads too tight, but I have problems at the calves as well. But I just can't stand those baggy-ass jeans that make you look like you just took a dump in your pants. And if my shoulders get much bigger (and I sure as hell intend them to!), my Quiksilver t-shirts won't even fit right any more.

A friend at work bought several bespoke suits and shirts through a Hong Kong tailor called Fit-Wel (www.fitwel.com) - he highly recommends them, and a lot of people at my company buy from them too. His suits look great, and prices are not that much higher than off-the-rack at a high-end department store or Brooks Bros. When I get my BF% down to where I want to keep it permanently, I'm going to upgrade the wardrobe and get a couple of suits and some slacks and shirts from them. (Thank God for business casual dress codes - right now I can get away with khakis from the outlet mall or Target.) Fit-Wel has a showroom in LA, and have reps that visit major cities several times a year. There are other HK tailors that have US reps, too.

I had to explain to a woman at a gym once that this is why bodybuilders wear tanks a lot - you can buy more for the waist and just "hang out" the top more as you grow.:D

Some of T. Reilly's stuff is overpriced, but they have good sales - just sign up for the e-mail notices. House of Pain also has some good workout gear and they seem like good people - I bought a gym bag from them a few weeks ago - better quality than anything I saw at Sports Authority and they upgraded it to the next size up for free when the size I ordered was out of stock and would have taken a couple of weeks.

so if i actually get my clothing company off the ground that caters to bodybuilders think it would do well?
