Pumping Rubber

I walk into the gym this morning and all the steel plates are gone.
Thay were replaced with the rubber coated ones. All the dumbells are now rubber coated and all the 2.5-increase sizes(27.5, 42.5) are eliminated! Alot of the favorite machines are being removed so the trendy shit that the posers use can come in. I asked one of the out-of-shape staff if they were going to bring in the 2.5 sizes and she says that the old ones are available for sale. What the fuck? I asked what other machines were going to be removed and she says some of the Hammer Strength because nobody uses them! Bullshit! In asked if any of the fat assed staff polled the membership to see what equipment was used and she didn't know. If things don't get straightened out I'm out!

take out a loan, and buy everything they sell. you will kick yourself down the road if you don't, trust me...unless there selling the stuff for a crazy price.

Yeah buy the stuff and open up next door. All the real lifters there will go to your place while the trendies go to the old place...

Rubber plates...can't stand them. I am a member of a chained gym, so I can choose between a couple of different locations that are nearby. The gym that's closer to me has hotter chicks, the damn rubber octagon plates with the handles in the middle of them, and no t-bar. Also the only place to do pullups is in the middle of the cables which constantly has people in them doing retarded shit like overhand pitching motions and these other sweeping movements that would keep me from working in with some pullups. The other gym has the classic iron plates so I drive up there. It's just less rewarding to crank out a set of squats and not hear plates clanking together. The rubber shit is just plain gay. And they are especially annoying because for example on deadlifts, if the sides of the octagon's plates are not all out sync, one side of the bar may go down a half inch more or so during the lift when it touches the ground.

my school just built a new fitness center and weight room, and all they have is rubber plates. I hated it. I lifted there twice, and it just wasn't the same putting rubber weights on the bar. rubber plates suck

I like my gym, its kinda dirty and gritty, but thats how I like it. I would rather have it like that than all pretty and rubbery weights, tons of cardio things.

BTW if you have rubber on your floors(i dont know if you do or not) then why rubber on the weights?

In my gym they asked the dumbass personal trainers which equipment was being used nad which wasn't. The one good trainer was over ruled by the dumbasses and we lost a low pulley machine, T-bar row, squat rack and a power cage! jow there is a constant battle over who gets to use the remaining cage and low pulley machine.

Bumper plates are cool...very cool.

As far as machines...you guys use them? Hmmm...:)

I do love the low pulley, after chins/pullups and rows what else are you going to do for back? The low pulley is a good machine IMO. But hey, I know strongman training requires a little more functional strength training BFold.:D

Update: 2.5 sizes are back ordered, will be there soon. Hammer Strength is staying too! I guess I can stay too.

B-Fold, I would love to see the rate at which you progress training at a modern facility.

I've trained with Night Fly at her gym before...and it really got to me after a while. I really can't think of a machine that would help me in strongman...except for maybe the seated pulley row (needs A LOT more weight on the stack though) and the calf machine...
