Pulled back muscle.. On cycle

Hey all. Just looking for some advice. I pulled a mid back muscle around the shoulder blade at work and have tried everything to heal it. ( rest, ice, cream, anti inflammitory, massage, chiropractor, etc). I hate taking time off so ive just been careful in the gym and work around injury. I was putting off a cycle because of this but then decided to start as i figured it would help heal since it is a muscle injury. So far it hasnt done too much. Im about a month in. Is my line of thinking okay? Or is there something else i can try?

I couldn't tell you if it will work or not but I woulda waited tell I was fully healed so I could train hard while on cycle... Just my thoughts

Well i am training hard. Careful with the back tho.
There has been some improvement. As in the pain is manageable. But otherwise cycle is going great. Im up 25 pounds

this makes no sense. a pulled muscle should not take more than a month to heal. how did u get injured and what did u feel?

you have something more serious going on... more like a TORN muscle and if thats the case without rest it can take several months to fully heal. you can either rest until its better or keep at it and delay recovery.. if my opinion is right then keep working out and let it heal slowly.. muscle and bone will heal. if it was a tendon or ligament problem i would recommend resting 100%.

you could even rest for a week and get a lot of acupuncture treatments to get blood flowing into the area and speed up recovery.. lots of heat as well. .. chiropractors deal with bones, not muscle.. so going to him is pointless.

Thank guys. Ill make an app. Again with the doctor to get it looked at. All he did was prescribe me pills that hurt my stomach. I doubt it is torn muscle. Just felt a twinge in my back while moving some 2x4's. Nothing to big. But its lasting a long time.
I think a belt would be smart. Mines in a diferent city at moment

My doctor said i had a pulled muscle. Nothing serious. He prescribed me antinflammitories that hurt my stomach. I suggested massage and he said it would be good. Ive been thinking about trying acupuncture as well

^^ anti-inflammatories for a lifter like you is suicide. your problem could turn chronic using them. listen to your body.. if it hurts lay off.

a pulled muscle and a torn muscle are the same thing btw (unless it was torn totally into 2 pieces which is highly unlikely), your doctor probably doesn't even understand the difference as he probably never lifted a weight in his life. he probably is too busy trying to schedule his golf game to explain that to you. the only difference is a torn muscle is a larger tear. you probably have something in between

Fair enough. I will not be taking those pills anymore. Wasnt helping anyway.
I dont think the middle of a cycle is the best time to take a break. So i will finish it carefully. And rest alot.
Only problem is im a construction carpenter so i use my body all day.
But i will take time off when i can

There has been some improvement in that area and id definitely say that being on cycle has helped speed things up. Ive just had to change my routine. And will buy belt. Ive been meaning to.

Personally dude i would of waited if i was you, i currently have a lower back injury and im half way through my cycle and i know my training is not half as intense as it was last week before i got injured

I had a simular injury. Was out of traing for almost 4 weeks as it hurt like hell and it left my left arem basically useless. It was a pretty bad tear, i had blood marks under the skin and it was badly swolen for about 10 days. I wouldn't have started a course untill it was completely heal'd if i were you. My injury took 12 weeks to heal completly that is untill i felt no more pain. I know its not what you want to hear but rather let it heal 100% the risking an injury that will sit with you for months or even years. Just go easy on it. I feel/ felt your pain.

i wouldve rested it or healed it then started a cycle... lil late for that now

just to add what steve said start googling "myofascial release" buy a lacrosse ball or a pool ball :) and it will help things out.. do some research and if you have any questions feel free to let me know

Thank for the input. I probably should have waited. That was impulsive. But to be honest the only part of my workout has suffered has been my back workouts. Which ive altered to put less stress on it. Otherwise ive never gone harder.
However once this cycle is done i will take a break till i am pain free. As that would be stellar.
Ill do some research and update my progress

I created what was initially thought to be a muscle tear in my lower back but is really a bulging disk. It's been going on 4+ months and all I can say is that rest is your best bet. I would pack up your cycle until you are 100% otherwise it's just a waste. I had about a month left in mine, was and am still bummed out about it. I hope to begin the gym this week, along with structured rehab.

Wow. That myofascial release stuff is great. I already have some round studded plastic balls that do wonders for the feet. And a foam roller. Im gonna grab a tennis and pool ball.
But since working on my back ive had more mobility and less pain. Very good stuff
