PS2, N64 cube, or Xbox for 6 year old??

Nintendo has always been the best in my opinion..great games, great graphics (better and better with each new model), and the kids games on it (mario bros, zelda, etc) are very cool

i remember when n64 came out and i was addicted to gettin high and playing mario kart for hours with my friends..good shit..

plus i would never contribute to Bill gates's product..he's running an electronics monopoly!

ps2 best games

i dont think so for a 6 year old..like i said, for lil kids, NIntendo makes the best games and easiest controls..plus no waiting for a CD to load and shit..i hate that when they pause during games for a split second when the action is too fast or whatever..

the original super mario brothers..whew...memories :)

I would go with nintendo as well, the games are more for kids, ps2 has some good adult games, screw xbox.

damn. i think the last nintendo/sega i used was the super nintendo & sega genesis about 8 years ago. then computers came along & now i don't even know what a nintendo 64, xbox, etc are.

im guessing 64 is the best, based on other people, who probably use them more than i do.

Nintendo is much more geared towards kids then the other two. If it were for you, Id recommend the PS2, the games comming out in the next few months are badass and plenty of em. Xbox will fail, Im almost certain of it. The Gamecube doesn't run DVD's though.

Heres another factor

Gamecube=$199
PS2=$299
Xbox=$299

The XBox will probably be the best system. It's not going to fail. Billy doesn't like to lose. Watch and see.

A game system for a six year old? Jeez, get the kid a set of Legos and some toys. That game system will be broken in a week.

Yeah right. You don't have kids, do you? Just yesterday I watched as my 6-year-old nephew beat the shit out of Tekken 3 (PS2). He completed the damn game a couple of times in 15 minutes. NEVER underestimate what kids can do!

I've still got my old nintendo. Fuck...I still can't beat Mike Tyson in Punch Out. I've always sucked at video games.

As for the original question -- go with nintendo. Most of their games are kid friendly.

Big Bazooka...

U r so right...my son is 6 and has had Nintendo64 since he was 5 and Gameboy....he started on our computer at 18 months....

It's unbelievable what they can do at that age....i bookmark kids sites for him and he luvs to surf Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Disney....He's getting his own computer for Xmas so we will quit fighting over who's turn it is!

Nintendo 64 is a good bet as is the new Gameboy Advance...

the x-box will sell for $499. the price of the PS2 is supposed to drop pretty soon though. i would get a ps2 due to the price.

how about forgetting the game system and buying him a computer. He can do so much more than just playing games.

Go to a Video/Toy/Game retailer and look at what games are available NOW for the different platforms listed and let that be ONE of your guides to the decision.

Each few months the technology will improve revolving around these big players.

I think Sony has the best range of games for young Kids, teens and adults so everyone can enjoy for a while..

I never wrote that a six year old couldn't play the games. But wait til you see the CD's being used as drink coasters, hockey pucks, and frisbees. Game control plugs will be forced in upside down (somehow they WILL get it to fit that way). And for an educational toy it is great. They will see exactly how much coke will fit in the game console and still work.

But then again, maybe my niece and nephew are a couple of hooligans! They've had 4 game consoles from the first Nintendo to the Playstation 2, and every damn one of them is broke! (Well, I'll admit that the Nintendo does work sometimes. If you really shove in the cartridge and jiggle it a bit, you can play for a while..if the controllers work....)

And countless times I've had friends over to play some Madden football when the stupid thing won't even load. I then look at the back of the CD and it's so scratched up, it looks like they tried to play it on their Fisher-Price record player!

Maybe I'm just jealous. I love game systems, and I wish I could have had one when I was six. (I got the Atari 2600 when I was 13!)

Nintendo would definitely be the way to go for a small child. Characters in the games have big smiling faces and collect flowers and bananas instead of dead bodies.

But be realistic, you know you're going to play it alot more than the kid does because you're a big grownup and you get to stay up later. So get the PS2.

PS2.

#1, it plays DVDs.

#2, Nintendo makes a new system every 3 years that is not compatible with older games. If he's 6 this system will last him until he's 12, no need to have an obsolete system in a few years.
