Protien from the supp companies

Is this stuff quality protien? who makes good protien powder? I heard some of it is 50% cake mix or some BS like that. Also that its not always all whey protien. Whats the low down on commercial protien?
Bottom line, does it work?

look on the side of the tub, all the 99% isolate shit just means they managed to filter 99%of the stuff, that just refers to their filtration. ionically filtered is probably better than heat filtered

(ont the side of the tub) see how much protein there is per 100g. good rule of thumb as to how much protein is actually in the tub. as for adding anything else, all you can go by is whats on the ingredients. they could concievably be lying and adding crushed donkey testicles or something to up the protein content cheaply, but you just have to go by what they say

Check out www.allthewhey.com - 25 grams of whey protein isolate per scoop and nothing else added. I've seen independent lab test results for this protein - it's probably the purest whey isolate you'll find on the market. And you won't pay an arm and a leg for it.

It's unflavored, so there's not much taste. I use it in crystal light, and I've added it to oatmeal - it didn't change the flavor of my oatmeal at all. I'm tired of the "milky" tasting protein powders, so I love this stuff.

CytoSport is a great Whey protein. In a shaker bottle you just shake a few times vigorously and it is perfectly blended -- no lumps or caking. Compared to Optimum Whey, well, there is no comparison.

i disagree . I love optimum, just got a 10lb bag. you cant go wrong for the content flavor and consistency. It tastes great , mixes good with milk and goes down nice doesnt bloat you. I've easily tried over 10 brands too

Thanks JJ, I'll check it out. While I can drink most protein shakes, I am growing tired of the very similar milky taste too.

Ion-exchange process is the worst, after heat process; most of the important immune related protein fractions of the whey are lost.

Stick to cross-flow-microfiltration instead (CFM).

Thanks.

yikes i didn;t realise they heated the ion exchange membranes etc

thanks for the tip :) i use ultimate nutritions powders anyway, they are micro filtered, its pretty cheap

Unfortunately you can hardly rely on the labels
and most of the companies cheat (the larger companies a little less though)

CFM Whey is a good choice

how safe are these proteins relative to other items used for muscle building? (lets say 1 being a can of tuna or egg whites and 10 being steroids)

How SAFE are the protein powders? Very safe. They aren't going to hurt you or make you unable to build muscle. They are a SUPPLEMENT used to supplement your food intake. That said, real food will always be "better" for you than a supplement. But both have their place in a diet (both muscle building and cutting).

well we will all be safe next year on buying any supplement there making it to wear supplement companies can t pass anythingwith out the fda checking it!

I received a big tub of the unflavored protein from www.allthewhey.com JJFigure talked about - it really DOES taste like nothing. Very weird. It just feels like a smooth, but grainy powder in your mouth. I haven't mixed it with anything yet - plan on making some protein pancakes with it though. I'm am very excited to try it - so tired of the regular protein powders.

Good turn-over time. I ordered it and received it within a couple days - and they are in PA and I am on the west coast. 5lbs for $38 (that is with shipping).

5 lb of optimum 100% whey protein - $25.00. $4.95 for shipping and I receive their stuff in less than 2 days.
