Protein

I try and pack in as much protein as I can per day, at most maybe 100 grams, I need more though apparently if I'm gonna make any real gains. I use whey powder that has 20g per scoop, I take 3 of those a day but that stuff is expensive. I also eat home made fresh ground beef burgers, chicken breast and tuna. But not sure how much more I can really stuff myself with is there any other foods that are rich in protein just so I can get some variety?

EDIT: Some guy had said he had some shakes that were 55g instead of just 20, where would I find that?

Smoke and mirrors.
Its usually "per serving" and that is often 2 scoops. So even in your case that would be 20x2 = 40 grams. And usually scoop sizes are different.

I look to maximize the protein ratio per dollar.
Look at how much prot grams per scoop grams you are getting.
In my case a scoop is 28g with 22g of protein. (Optimum Whey).
So basically each scoop is 22/28 = 79% protein.

Then I compare that 79% with other brands and compare that to the cost of the other brands.

Look for the best dollar/protein gram ratio and you have found the winner.

OR... I think lots of people here use Optimum Nutrition whey... just go buy it.

Chicken, tuna, beef, pork, milk, eggs, cheese, fish, whey, etc.

Take 2.5 scoops of yours. His is a bigger serving size, I'm sure.

I get my protein from www.Bodyworks-nutrition.com. If you order over 100 dollars you get free shipping, which is cool. I get the 100% whey protein, i think from pro lab. It doesn't mix for crap without a blender, but i got a blender and now i am sititng pretty.

They come in huge tubs that last a while even with 3 servings a day. Its the best deal i was able to find

Thanks guys, think I'll just stick with the 100% whey from GNC, didn't realize people might be using 2 scoops or more oh well. I forgot cheese had protein, peanut butter too. I love cheese though so thats a good alternative.

GNC is often a ripoff.

Cheese & PB have lots of fat too, not the best prot. source.

Proteinfactory.com -- they have some good stuff there... cheap per lb too... You can get 4lbs of quality protein for around 24 bucks...

I also like any type of Whey that is ionized... as for flavor... after Fear Factor, I don't care.. :)

Cheese and peanut butter? Um, dude, what about MEAT? FISH, POULTRY?

I get 600+ g of protein, daily. It's tough, for sure, but who said building muscle was supposed to be easy?

Cheese and peanut butter... yeah, they have protein in them... but I guess I'd rather drink Skim milk rather than eat the cheese... zero fat.

As for Peanut Butter... you get hit with around 16G of fat per 8g of protein... unless it's "low fat" then it's 12G fat. The macronutrient ratio isn't good.

If you are going to eat solid foods, and are looking for alternatives... looking to cottage cheese, bulk chicken from Cosco -- use recepes to help your flavoring... you can get some pretty tits sauces that are low in sugar/sodium for cheap...

Also, Salmon is one of my favorites...

Your joking right? IMO, there is no reason to get 600g proteinper day.

Tell that to Doggcrapp. He routinely puts 25-30 lbs of muscle on people in 8 weeks, when they actually find out how to eat/train. Hint: most of the people on this board have no clue.

Try reading the cycles for pennies thread on animal's board.

Your just wasting your money taking in protein levels this high...
I bet 2 thirds of that is being converted to glycogen and getting stored in your fat cells.

I'll tell anyone that. Even this doggcrap fellow.

Dont know where to find animal's board.

Well no LOL I didn't mean I'd be eating Cheese and Peanutbutter instead, just as added extras with or on the side, but I do like eating peanutbutter sandwiches on 100% whole wheat bread, which has 6g per slice and 4g of fiber.

I love meat and poultry but I dont always have time to defrost it when I'm in a hurry for work or whatever. And when I don't have tuna salad mixed the best I can do is make a pb&j sandwich.

What about cereals? I eat post bran flakes and grape nuts, but it seems to have way more carbs than protein.

I also try those solid protein bars but those are just disgusting to choke down sometimes.

Anyways, thanks citruscide I'll start ordering from that site, that stuff is a lot cheaper.

25-30 pounds of MUSCLE????????
even in 8 weeks on cycle that much muscle isn't likely.
weight (muscle, fat, water).....maybe.....muscle.....i doubt it

Cook it ahead of time.

Not a good source of protein.

agreed.

but try this...... i take optimum nutrition whey 22 grams of protein per scoop.

recipe......2 scoops, 1 serving of cottage chesse, 4 whole eggs, and 3 servings of skim milk.......thats 24 oz.

thats over 1 hundred grams of protein, and i drink 2 of those a day........ that and 1 lb of ground turkey. 80 grams of protein in that.

with the other things i eat each day, that puts me at 300 grams a day, thats my goal. and its easily met.

X

Mindwraith, just to let ya know, if you're looking for good tasting protein, you're not gonna get it from there. it's drinkable, and good quality at a good price, but don't expect it to taste good. i use they CFM whey isolate, so i don't know what the other wheys taste like, but the ion exchange whey isolate is supposed to taste the best.

300 is fine, IMO. Thats what I try to eat. But 600 is a bit overkill.

These are a few example of people DC trained:
(his post)

I am very very good at turning normal people into the biggest bodybuilders in their area. Ive trained 7 people bodybuilding wise in the last 4 years (5 used super supplements 2 were clean) every one of those people gained at least 47lbs on their bodyweight at roughly the same or less bodyfat.
1) 188 to 260(2.5 years)
2)172 to 254 (3 years)
3)208 to 261(clean! genetic mesomorph 1 year)
4)218 to 275 (cut his juice in half, doubled his protein, showed him how to train correctly-2 years)
etc etc etc currently training only one guy because of time limits--he started at 207 clean its been 4 months and he is now 228lbs clean as a whistle-now if I could ever convince Nasser to move out of North county San Diego I could lay claim to the big dog on the block around here

Since that post was a while ago he's actually taken on some more trainees since then. He's AKA Dante from hardcore muscle.

I still say 600g protein is too much. Lots of it will get converted to glycogen.

Cook it ahead of time.

I try heh, not always easy. If I remember to I live about half a mile from work so I lay out the meat to defrost before I leave for work and cook it during lunch.

I like meat chicken and tuna the most, and I tend to put my whey protien powder in fat free milk.

So what about hamburgers? Considering that I'm using potato buns and ultra fresh ground serloin from the butcher? I love hamburgers, I usually put about 3 thin slices of monterey jack cheese on there and a bit of ragu. As for chicken, I eat a lot of it but I like it best with pasta. I can spice up and flavor up chicken real nicely but beef can get real boring and chicken too just by itself, variety is the only thing that keeps me going on a good diet heavy on protein so thats basically what I'm looking for here.

recipe......2 scoops, 1 serving of cottage chesse, 4 whole eggs, and 3 servings of skim milk.......thats 24 oz.

Whoa, so are the 4 eggs raw or cooked? Does it taste any good?

Just remember that some ground beef is high in fat.

Most the ground beef I tend to get says 90% fat free, now what that means exactly who knows how much fat 10% is. I suppose strip steaks and such have less fat?

That means 10% fat, by weight. So, for every 100g beef, 10g of it is fat.

The leanest cuts of meat willl include the word loin or round.

i here you on "that shit's expensive". i spent years paying for it all and taking it all the time. well just htis past year i found a hook up at local vitamin store, and the dude hooks it up. i'm talking 5-8 jugs of protein for 80 bucks, bars (boxes of them) for 20-40 bucks. the dude has reallly saved me alot and helped me out.
