I want a good tasting 0-carb protein powder..

My last few jugs tasted like horse turds and had about 17g of carbs per serving! :(

Now gimme a place to order it and which one to buy! :)

Good point he made, use the protein powder as what it is, a SUPPLEMENT, not a meal replacement. Only times I use protein powder is mixed with my oatmeal for taste and added protein and for post workout shake because of the fast absorption of the whey to replenish your muscles after a workout. Other than that, I use real food for my diet.

vp2 by AST is sssssso good 24g pro 1g carb..i mix it w water and it still tastes great. but like the boys said...stick to real food whenever possible...it really does make a big difference

gnc 100% whey protein chocolate and eas simply whey protein chocolate are both great tasting and only have around 3 carbs, and the cheapest around which is what i focus on. i think isopure has 0 carbs but it is alot of money.

Powder is a must, im 16, i don't have time for counting up protein from food.
Money isn't a issue either.. i need 0 carbs.
Not 1, not 2, not even 3.

At age 16 you need to be getting all your protein from real food. Protein shakes is a supplement and need to be used as one. How hard can it be to count protein from chicken breast and tuna? They have the same amount of protein in it as a protein shake. LOL

Isopure!!! Its my favorite and has no carbs unless you get the chocolate, it's got 3 grams. No fat and 50 grams of protein per serving!

what does age have anything to be doing with using a protein shake?? protein shakes are very helpful postworkout and much better than regular food post workout, also it is a very convenient way to get protein when attending school.

If you read my posts I said you should get your protein from REAL food and not a SUPPLEMENT. I did say that the protein shake IS good for post workout.

i was talking about ur post towards the end that says "at age 16 you should be getting your protein from real food"

Ok, 16 or 40, it don't matter, it's better to get the food from real sources if all possible, only time you want to use protein shakes if you have no other choice.

and again what is the difference.. Protein is protein. Just cuz he is 16 doens't mean shit. Your response is so ingnorent.

If you think protein is protein, that right there show's your ignorance. LOL

Oh, and by the way, just to enlighten the dumb (not referring to anybody here LOL) here is a break down of the types of protein. The three major sources of dietary protein available to individuals are whole proteins (food), partially digested proteins called hydrosylates (most protein powders) and free form amino acids (formulations containing single peptides). So as you see your "protein is protein" statement is incorrect, and you should really learn what you're talking about before making comments about others and their ignorance.

Yes, I agree with this BUT, some of us cant cook cook 6 meals a day, even if we make them at the begining of the week. What about college students or military that live in the dorms or barraks without access to a stove?

So basically what doesnt taste like sh*t and dont tell me optimum whey, yucky!

Select 2 days out of the week and cook enough chicken to last you until you cook again. Tuna doesn't require cooking. If you live at dorms or somewhere w/out a stove, well then buy a George Forman grill. Pretty cheap these days. If ya gotta have a shake b/c you're either too lazy to cook or can't afford a George Forman grill, then go ahead and have your protein shake 5-6 times a day, can't really tell you what tastes the best, I just take a protein shake to fuel by muscles, so I don't care about the taste.

These are all great point and this is NOT a debate but I will touch on a few points you made. 1) I take protein to fuel my muscles as well BUT there wont be any fueling going on if I can drink the stuff because I'm gagging on it. 2) The only type of animal protein i eat is either chicken or turkey. 3) Cooked chicken should be refridgerated (sp?) for no more than 4-5 days at a temp below 42 degrees so if I cooked on sat and sun I would have to cook again thursday and friday.

I KNOW real food is best, but it's not always practical. That's why these protein powders were invented. Also for me it's hard to eat enough food to get my daily protein allowance. I have choked down food before and it's not a pleasant experience. So forgive me if I'm not HARDCORE and I cant drink nasty ass tasting protein.

But thank you for your opinion non the less.

Oh and in the Army, not sure of the other services we were not allowed to have ANY sort of hot plate or grill in the barracks. Cant even have candles (fire saftey) but i get what you are saying.

the only major difference between Powdered proteins and lets say chicken is the complexity of the amino acid compisition. No one wants to cook 5 chickens a day, dont say dumb shit like that. You think by giving a stupid answer its going to help him out. All he asked for was a 0 carb protein source.

BTW Whiz.. the only protein i'm usin now is N-Large and thats 90 g of carbs per serving.. is that close enough to 0? lol Can't help ya there, but i'd go with what the other guys reccommend

And that major difference there has a lot to do with the speed of the absorption rate. Whey protein causes blood leucine levels to increase rapidly, hitting a peak in 1 hour. However leucine levels decreases in equally rapidly returning to normal by 4 hours. In contrast, whole proteins causes a much slower rise in blood leucine levels, reaching a lower peak around 1 hour, but maintained that level for almost 7 hours. So that is why it is more important to take real food rather than hydrosylates. And who said anything about cooking chicken 5 times a day? You do know there are other methods of consuming protein through real food right? LMFAO

your incorrect. Even the most fast acting protein (Whey) Peaks in 2 hours. While if you have a good protein blend containing caesin which clots in your stomach, is released slowly and absorbed over a period of four to six hours.

I'm not trying to debate weather or not high protein foods are "better" than protein powders because they are in some aspects. I was just debating your 1st response to Whiz that he should just eat food because he is 16.

Well from the studies I've done on this I believe I am right and you are wrong, but either way, drop the debate. About the 16 year old comment, if you read a later post I corrected myself and said for any age.

Protein shakes is the only way for me.
I go to school and its hard.
And my mom refuses to cook 6 meals a day for me! (i already asked)

LoL

If protein shake is the only way you can get protein, then it's better than no protein so then a shake will be fine. Just make sure you take it with skim milk to slow down the absorption of it. Other than that advice I'm keeping my mouth shut to avoid any more arguments.

Whiz i'm in school too. (H.S) And its a pain in the ass to get what protein i need. There is a few hour gap where i don't get much food at all, but i live with it. I get about (25) g in the morning through milk. Wait till lunch (like 4 hrs later) and eat a nice sandwich filled with many cold cut meats :) then i lift bout 2 hrs later. Get home. Eat a big ass snack,Take an n-large (roughly 70 g) eat dinner 2 hrs later (protein ranges) and then another nlarge bfor bed (60g) I think its a pretty good plan.

Since i started this routine about 1 1/2 months ago i'm up like 10 lbs. It wouldn't surprise me if 50% of it is fat.. N-large blows me up.

Oh BTW, I got a shaker bottle from DPSnutrition its by AST.. its hella cool and i can make shakes in less then a minute

I can't believe some of ya'll are ragging on whey. Post-workout, whey is great for its quick absorbtion which halts catabolism. Ideally, look for a combination of whey hydrolyzate, isolate, and casein. Proteinfactory.com is a good place to start.
