Protein When Dieting

Is it essential that i take protein shakes when i'm dieting? I obviously want to get the weight off so would you recommend cutting down on the protein when i diet?
 
no don't cut down on protein when dieting and don't get it from protein shakes only the only time you really need them is when you get up in the morning to stop been catabolic and right after your workout (and maybe some casein before bed) any other source or protein should come from solid lean meats.
want to get some weigh off, lower your carbs.
 
i haven't seen a reason to ever cut down on protein. It's tough enough to get clean protein and i seriously doubt you will ever hinder your losses by eating too much protein
 
1x BW is really not enough. You shouldn't be basing off of BW anyway. SHould be going on LBM

1xBW is certainly "enough". As long as you aren't fat, there isn't a huge difference between using LBM and BW. If you are fat/high bodyfat then LBM is a better starting point.

We dont know OP's stats. yea its not a big difference if your low BW but thats only because your suppposed to go by LBM and they just happen to be close....
