Protein shakes and Protein powder

Diet forum takes forever to get replies.. I am gonna buy some protein powder today.. what flavor / brand do you guys prefer?

Also where do you buy it at?

what are your recipes for good shakes?

2 scoops of muscle milk choclate
1/2 cup of raw oats
1/2 cup of liguid eggwhites
2 tsp ANPB
water
Blend
Down the hatch
 
I love dps

I have been using AST's VP2 forever now. Usually Vanilla but they ran out recently so went for Fruit Punch, which is growing on me. If it's a PWO shake, then I just do 2 scoops with like 50g dextrose. Sometimes I'll do a scoop with some flax and water before bed

I ordered a 15lb bag of their blend... awesomeness...

Flavor is better than anything else, it's cheaper, and it's a better blen... iso/concentrate...

I get the 5 lb tubs or whatever by dymatize elite. There's a place here that sells it for $30. I just stick with chocolate or vanilla. I really only use powder pre and post w/o. I try to get most of my cals from whole food.

^^^^ What he said. Their isolate is the best and no protein eruptions :rolleyes:

Their unflavored isolate, even mixed with just water, no sweetener or anything, is very drinkable. I don't like anybody's pre flavored/sweetened stuff, too sweet for me.

Just water and fruit punch or do you mix it with other stuff?

I may try the fruit punch b/c I hate vanilla

what she said...and I will sometimes mix vanilla flavor with 1/2 skim milk 1/2 water....tablespoon of bp....and sometimes add a 1/2 banana with a dash of splenda...yummy.
 
I'm trying allthewhey's isolate protein variety pack.. 6 flavors for $9.. this way I can try them all and see which I like the best before dipping a hundred bucks into a 15lbs bag of stuff I don't know if I'll like


Do any of you use dextrose?

Just get the vanilla... you can mix it with crystal light, ANPB..... even sugar free quick or some shit if you want choclate..

Fuck the flavors... they are retarded...

Vanilla and Sunrise Crystal light = Dreamsicle...

Otherwise, not only no, but fuck no. Eat Whole Oats - Steal Cut if you can or Brown Rice...

Poor powder in water shake and drink.

Its one of my most favorite recipes.

I actually like the flavor of GNC's Chocolate flavored whey protien but you have to make it in advance and then drink it the next day otherwise it does not taste all that great.

I HATE the taste of vanilla.. it makes me want to vomit my intestines out. Maybe if the Crystal light cuts out the taste of vanilla I'd try it.

I need to try that, good to know. At the moment I'm using Choc. Isopure by Nature's best. Pretty good IMO. As far as RTD shake, we sell Micellar Milk(sp.) by Nature's best which is a knock off version of Muscle Milk. I love 'em. They're not as thick as Muscle Milk and taste awesome. 40g of pro. and only 2 carbs. Best protein drink I've ever tasted. We sell the vanilla and choc. ones for 3.50. People buy the shit out of them. We can't keep enough in stock.

Hey ... if Jay Cutler eats regular (NON QUICK) quaker oats I suppose they are okay... but I like Mcann's Irish Oatmeal - Steel Cut Oats.

IMO, use milk isolate as your general use protein and whey isolate around your workouts.

This is solid advice, milk isolate or casein protein is a slower metabolized protein molecule. It keeps muscles anabolic during periods where you cannot eat ie. bedtime, seminar, work, etc

The whey is very fast acting and is best utilized post workout. I haven't been able to find a cheap casein protein so I usually just take a couple of cups of fat free cottage cheese before going to bed.
