Protein powder expiration

How long is protein powder good for after it's exp. date if it's been kept cool and the lid has been kept on?

I know. Common sense right? I've heard different things. It could be a safety net for the company to keep from getting sued, or an overly cautious FDA regulation...
I'm pretty cheap right now though...

so yeah, dump what you got and pick up new.
If you don't drink it cuz of the taste or w/e... i'd suggest proteinfactory.com > big blast > orange flavor > + a sweetener.
I know flavors are sometimes whack in p shakes, but not this combo..
I actually LIKE to drink it, therefore not just pounding it, rather enjoying it... so my body does too

I like optimimnutritions PRO COMPLEX chocolate. They sale it at smoothie king for pretty cheap. 60g pro per serving. I think it's pretty high quality stuff. Anyone tried it?
