Protein cycling

I'm just eating more proteins on lifting days .....

I would advise STRONGLY against eating any protein while cycling.......might choke.

I did that once, fell right off the bike. luckily when i hit the ground the impact popped that chunk of protein right out of my windpipe. so I guess it worked out in the end.

Well, I guess this thread was just asking for it! Anyway, why would you want to cycle your protein? I may go out of my way to ingest a little more on training days, but I wouldn't consider that cycling. What u mean, brutha?

If it was that stupid, do you think George Spellwin would advertise such a diet. The program is called optimum anabolics.

Well, you shouldn't have been so judgemental. I did the protein cycling diet for 6 weeks (3 weeks at 40g/day followed by 3 weeks at 200g/day) and the result was spectacular. I started at 178, 12% bf. After 3 weeks, I was 180,14%. I lost a little lean mass but my muscles looked pumped because of the glycogen and water stored I guess. After the 3 weeks at 200g, my body weight went up considerably. People at the gym though I had started a cycle! I'm now at 191, 11 % bf. I'll soon do another protein cycle and hope to reach 200/205 pounds.
Protein cycling is truly amazing.

"3 weeks at 40g/day"
I don't see any benefit from taking so little protein

You don't see any benefit? What about my weight gain!?
By depriving your body from protein that way, some over-compensation mechanism start to kick in. It takes around 10 days. When you reintroduce proteins after 3 weeks, the body starts to store proteins in the muscles thinking it will need them for the next starvation.
I gain as much muscle as if I was on AAS and you don't see any benefit? Are you an expert on human physiology and nutrition to declare there's no benefit?

So bro...you are in the minority here.......no need to reduce the protein and then cycle back on.....why risk losing hard earned muscle for those 3 weeks??? Esp. if you are training heavy......I'll bet much of the weight you gained was water and your results would be even better if you would have increased the protein even more...........maybe reduce

Yeah sure. So you can go from 178 12% bf to 191 11 % bf in 6 weeks, without changing anything but your diet. Good for you.

I didnt really think it was possible to only eat that much!!! thats psycho! I hear what your saying about flippin your body out! But fuck, do you really gotta go that low, I eat about 8 meals with that much protein in it apeice! I couldnt imagine eating that little amount!

You guys are incredible! Instead of saying it's plain stupid, just give it a try.
Scientificaly, it's based on the rebound created by slight protein deficiency.
You're not making any progress without gear because you stick to your basic ideas. You need to impose new stress on your body in order to achieve new gains after a while.
Have you heard about HST? Maybe maybe not. It's a very powerful way of stressing your body at the gym. But I guess, that's also to revolutionary for you.
Keep with the basics and take more and more gear, you surely are right and smart.

First off man, if you're going to try and make any points with a scientific basis, provide us with a link, and learn to spell the word scientifically.

We don't make progress without gear? How can you make such a stupid allegation? What do you mean by progress? How do you know I'm not making any? You do realize you don't need gear to make "progress", right? And what basic ideas? Why do you assume we follow basic ideas? And even if we did, haven't those methods been tried and true? Yeah. So, they will work.

You say you need to impose new stress in order to impose new gains, yet after that statement you ask us if we've heard of HST. Well, I've read almost everything available on HST. The entire website, the forums, and talked with people who have done it before. So, yes, I've heard of it but...have you? If you really know anything about it, you'll know you don't need anything fancy by way of new stress. Maybe progressive loading, but you don't need to cycle calories or protein or anything of the sort. It doesn't even follow any sound principles of physiology.

"It's a very powerful way of stressing your body at the gym." <~~ Hahaha

You mean "too" revolutionary, right? Yeah well, it's not, considering I've done a cycle of HST before.

Keep with the basics: Check.
Take more and more gear: Can't take more if I haven't taken any in the first place.
Right & Smart: Yes I am. ;)
