Propecia (Finasteride)

ive got this on hand as a precautionary measure to avoid hair loss for my first test e cycle (10 weeks), will this have any effect on the result i see from the test because i was gonna start taking it a week before my first pin? i have letro as well, i'm not taking any chance when it comes to my hair or gyno lol.

Finasteride works by inhibiting the 5-alpha reductase (5ar) enzyme. This enzyme is responsible for converting testosterone to DHT.

DHT is the most potent of the male steroid hormones - roughly 10 times stronger than testosterone. Some even refer to testosterone as a "prohormone" because of its relative weakness compared to DHT.

So, by taking finasteride to reduce the amount of DHT in your blood, you're theoretically doing yourself a disservice.

Interesting.........would this inhibit my results enough to risk hair loss? I've got a full head of hair and I would like to keep it that way........anyone else? Any ideas of what to take to prevent hair loss without sacrificing gains?

If you're just taking it "while on" you'll barely get past the shedding phase (which many go through) and you'll be finishing up your cycle about the time the medication will even start to have any sort of positive effect. My suggestion is either get on it or stay off of it. I don't recommend "cycling" finasteride.

Interesting, I'm already loosing my hair anyway so I'm screwed regardless. But, it seems if you are blocking some of the conversion to DHT I'm sure it would help a little, better than not having it. I've heard of people using it while on cycle and still got good gains. I'm guessing it would limit your gains a "little bit" maybe a couple pounds less. But you also might save a few hairs LOL.

Well, look at it this way. You're cycling highly anabolic and androgenic steroids for a specific period of time, increasing the levels of DHT in your blood for roughly that same period of time.

DHT causes hair loss by activating the miniaturization of the hair. Some believe this occurs because DHT limits oxygen and nutrients (blood flow) to the follicle.

Baldness is caused by progressive miniaturization. I.e., the DHT is always present, and hair will fall out due to natural growth cycles, but the next hair that grows in will be a little thinner due to the lack of blood flow to the follicle, and this process will repeat until you go bald.

If you're taking steroids, you're only dealing with too much DHT while you're on the cycle. When you stop, your levels will return to normal and your hair will act as it is genetically programmed to act.

So, for cycles that are a reasonable length, I don't think finasteride is necessary.

All steroids do is introduce more DHT into the body to miniaturize hair faster than it normally would. But that is ONLY if you're genetically prone to hair loss. If you back off, the DHT levels drop and your hair follicle is able to get the necessary nutrients once again.

Some guys can take anything they want and not worry about hair loss at all.

So looks like I'll leave it on the shelf, I'm running test e for ten weeks and have a full head of hair now so hopefully I should be fine. Great response tho! Appreciated bro. But does anyone know of anything that I can take as a precautionary measure that won't inhibit gains?

What about a less potent approach like Saw Palmetto gelcaps @ 400mg/day?

Also, would you suggest the best method to combat hair loss on cycle would be to use a Nizoral type product that blocks DHT at the site-specific area of the hair follicle?

Testosterone conversion's to DHT is part of its effects. I would not be too quick to get rid of DHT all together, it will hinder gains and Sexual functions.

I don't think finasteride completely wipes out DHT at the 1mg dose. People still just get really really low levels and that's when you supplying the normal human levels of testosterone. When you start injecting testosterone, I'm betting the DHT levels will still be at a decent level even with 1mg, which is why some people say it needs to be bumped to a higher dose or to use dutasteride. Whether finasteride does some other shit besides that is another story. I don't see why someone can't just throw in a lower dose of masteron or proviron on cycle along with the finasteride, unless they drop hair even at the smallest doses or provide no libido/body comp benefits.

I'll also be running beast for the first four weeks

I don't think it's going to effect the cycle that much. The finasteride dosage was made for a normal individual not taking anabolics. If you consider that the test levels will be 3x the normal rate. I'd assume you might gain 2-3 lbs less. So say you would gain 12-17 lbs instead of 15-20. But I doubt it will really effect it that much if at all.

This is my first cycle so I was hoping to gain 20lbs and keep 7-8
