Prolactin

Just read a thread about prolactin causing libido problems and was intrigued. Has anyone had high prolactin levels, what type of blood test do you need. Just curious because coming off I always get free, total, fsh, and lh checked to make sure all is well. Should I start including prolactin tests? Has anyone had high prolactin levels?

I think there have been plenty of people with elevated prolactin levels. The big problem though, is that most don't get blood tests either because their doctors ask too many questions why and then lambast them about the dangers of gear, or the expense is prohibitive.

Either way, it happens. I don't know about the libido problems, but it does seem that if you take prolactin suppressors like bromo in high enough doses, you can become (i think this is the term for it) hypersexual. And not in a good way.

I would say if it doesn't cost anything extra, go for it. Especially if your doctor knows what he is looking at.

i've had libido problems due to high prolactin levels but it was never proven with a blood test... well not totally, anyway. i had a shrink put me on Lexapro (an SSRI) without warning me about the possible sexual side effects. 9 months later not only could i not get it up with a crane but i didn't even WANT to fuck. i just wasn't interested in sex at all. i went to my regular doc and made him do bloodwork because i was sure i had low test levels. test levels came back high normal and that's when i found out about the SSRI-prolactin-libido link. turns out the mechanism for SSRI's affecting libido is elevated prolactin. other drugs, including some AAS also cause increased prolactin levels, Winstrol, Deca and Tren(Fina) to name a few. so while they are suppressing your own body's production of testosterone they are also increasing your prolactin level, so the libido gets a double hit.

Prolactin when of is always a problem with end of a cycle and gyno begins-DHEA has slowed and even stopped the process. You can use better like bromocriptine but the sides are a killer.

I think 600mg of vit b6 is a better alternative to bromo, no sides and cheap as hell.

so should someone use dostinex during ssri treatment .......600mg of b6 for and alternative for bromo???? i dont think so,,, what do u think Doc?

Does vitamin B6 lower Prolactin, if not, what can i buy over the counter to lower prolactin, until my dostinex comes in.
How do you combat Prolactin induced gyno?
