Prolactin Up Test Down

Moe

New member
My Doc called today to tell me that my prolactin is WAY up and that my free and available testosterone levels are low.

Hmmmm...

Considering I have been on 750 mg of Sust 250 for the last 7-8 weeks, this struck me as more than a little strange. It would seem as though I have been using bunk gear...

Opinions?

[see related scammer thread]

A Trenbolone-only cycle of that length would produce similar test results.

Possibly Nandralone would also.

I did run Tren for the first 5 weeks of the cycle, but it stopped 3 weeks ago. But, that shouldn't be a problem. Sure, Tren only...but I have been running 750 mg Sust 250 for 8 solid weeks, and my free and available test is STILL low.

I got shit.

Did your Doc suggest further evaluation? Did he say if any other values were low?

Do you know what your prolactin level is exactly? TSH? GH? ACTH?

I am on an insurance plan through work...I cannot come out and say it was AS.

He ordered an MRI to find out the cause (tumor, etc.). Now...I have to pay for 10% of an MRI on top of being stuck with shit gear. FUCK!!!

I don't know if fina can cause elevations in prolactin. I've never heard of that. Besides, assuming that it does, the levels would have subsided by that time because you quit.

He is ordering an MRI because very high levels of prolactin are almost always due to a prolactinoma (a pituitary secreting tumor) causes elevations that high.

Due to it's mass effect, it could also inhibit release of other pituitary hormones (LH and thus testosterone, GH, TSH, ACTH, etc.) and thus explaining your low test levels.

Yes fina can very well cause an elevated prolactin level.

I don't understand why your free test should be that low when you're on a decent dose of test... bunk gear maybe as you've said... bump.

Moe, your hyperprolactinemia may very well be due to the fina, but I would not just assume this is the case. Your doc may have noted other hormone levels, which are below normal and are suggestive of a prolactinoma, and didn't necessarily tell you they were low.

Pituitary microadenoma or hyperplasia are relatively benign conditions which require only periodic monitoring to assure progression to macroadenoma hasn't occured.

Since they are usually benign conditions, you would be safe to pospone the MRI.

I would do this: tell your doc that you don't want to pay for an MRI because you think that the most likely explaination for the elevated levels is due to laboratory error. Also, because of the variability of secretion and inherent limitations of the radioimmunoassay, an error of measurement could have occured. Tell him you want the level retested and delay the test as long as possible (1-3 weeks). If it is due to fina, by this time the levels should have decreased substantially and most likely will result in normal levels. If the level remains elevated, then have the MRI.

Med school is so damn demanding, I just don't get a chance to come here much. It's killing my physique.

I noticed that my post numbers had been reset to zero though, and I can't find any of my old threads on the search engines.

I'll try to help out where and when I can though. Too bad all the board members don't live near each other, cause I could start a new specialty in medicine geared towards the needs and interests of "our kind"
